Steven Testasecca: Where is Wade Wilson’s Dad Now?

It was in October 2019 when Wade Wilson was arrested in connection with two unrelated homicides that happened in quick succession, resulting in his alleged reign of terror coming to an end. What he didn’t expect at the time was that it would be his biological father to give him up to the authorities owing to the heinousness and remorselessness behind his actions. The efforts of Steven Testasecca, as well as many other aspects, have since been explored in Netflix’s ‘Worst Ex Ever: Dating the Deadpool Killer,’ so here’s more about his involvement in the matter.

Steven Testasecca Was Key in Wade Wilson’s Arrest

Steven Testasecca and his baby mama were admittedly just 14/15 years old when they fell pregnant with Wade Wilson, so they made the conscious decision to put him up for adoption for a better life. Therefore, while the latter was taken in by Candace and Steve Wilson prior to being raised in Tallahassee, Florida, his birth parents gradually chose to move on with their lives. It was only when Wade was 18 that he managed to reconnect with his biological father, after which they stayed in “sporadic” contact before growing closer as the youngster turned 25 in 2019.

Therefore, it wasn’t really a surprise when Wade called Steven on the evening of October 7, 2019, claiming he had done something terrible that he couldn’t take back and that he was now a killer. The latter initially assumed his son was joking since he was a “good storyteller,” as per court records, but he became worried when he got two more similar calls and then heard the explanation. According to his account to the police, their conversation at 10 pm was when Wade said, “Dad, I killed a girl last night.” In shock, all he could respond with was “What?,” to which his son clarified, “Two.”

As per Steven’s account, Wade continued to add, “I choked the bitch… Dad, I’m a killer. I’m a killer, and I kill with my bare hands.” He then reportedly went into detail on precisely how he had murdered Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz within a few hours. His father later testified in court that he sounded genuinely “excited” as he relayed everything to him, which made it clear he had no remorse. “He was wanting me to feel the same way he was feeling,” he said. Horrified, he then asked his son for his location under the pretense of sending him an Uber to help him escape, but instead, gave all the information to the authorities.

After Testifying Against His Son, Steven Testasecca Has Decided to Lead a Private Life

Although Steven was cities away in his hometown at the time, he did everything in his power to ensure that local police reached Wade’s hideout in Cape Coral before anything else transpired. After all, according to the aforementioned original, he knew the then-25-year-old would not have hesitated to take more lives. In fact, he had allegedly planned to kill his then-girlfriend and the residents of the house he had broken into, but fortunately, not only did the former escape, but no one was home when he trespassed. The elder also spoke to his son while he was detained, explaining why he had given him up before urging him to cooperate, but with little impact.

Therefore, when Wade stood trial on two counts of first-degree murder in the summer of 2024, Steven was one of the prosecution’s star witnesses. When he took the stand, he recalled every conversation they had on the fateful evening before admitting he initially wanted to help his son. However, his perspective changed when the latter sounded happy as he delved into the details of his crimes unprompted. The lack of remorse, along with the thought of “What if that was my mom? He would’ve done it again,” had made him contact authorities.

Steven’s testimony played a significant role in securing a conviction and the death penalty for Wade, who is currently incarcerated at the mixed-security Union Correctional Institution in Raiford, Florida. As for where the father stands today, from what we can tell, the 48-year-old has been a proud resident of Lakeland, Florida, for a few years. It also appears he is a professional window installer with his own company and is almost always surrounded by loved ones in his free time, including his wife, children, friends, and more.
