George Clooney and Annette Bening’s ‘In Love’ Starts Filming in New York in October

Hollywood legends George Clooney and Annette Bening are all set to work on their first feature together. The actors will start filming for ‘In Love,’ a romantic feature adapted from Amy Bloom’s New York Times bestselling memoir ‘In Love: A Memoir of Love and Loss,’ in New York in October. Paul Weitz will direct. He also co-wrote the script with Bloom.

The story follows Amy Bloom (Bening), who began to notice changes in her husband, Brian (Clooney): He retired early from a new job he loved; he withdrew from close friendships; he talked mostly about the past. Suddenly, it seemed there was a glass wall between them, and their long walks and talks stopped. Their world was altered forever when an MRI confirmed what they could no longer ignore: Brian had Alzheimer’s disease. Forced to confront the truth of the diagnosis and its impact on the future he had envisioned, Brian was determined to die on his feet, not live on his knees. Supporting each other in their last journey together, Brian and Amy made the unimaginably difficult and painful decision to go to Dignitas, an organization based in Switzerland that empowers a person to end their own life with dignity and peace.

George Clooney’s latest movie was the Netflix drama ‘Jay Kelly,’ where he played a movie star on a journey of self-reflection across Europe with his manager (Adam Sandler). Before that, he starred alongside Brad Pitt in the Apple TV+ action thriller feature ‘Wolfs.’ We will next see him in the Netflix movie ‘Call My Agent! The Movie,’ which will be released on September 10, 2026.

Annette Bening most recently starred as 10 Petal Ranch owner Beulah Jackson in Paramount+’s ‘Dutton Ranch,’ a sequel series of ‘Yellowstone,’ and Dr. Euphronious in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s ‘The Bride,’ inspired by the 1935 film ‘Bride of Frankenstein.’ She played Joy Delaney in Peacock’s ‘Apples Never Fall.’ Her upcoming project is the Apple TV+ crime drama series ‘Lucky,’ whose first episode arrives on July 15, 2026. The show follows a reformed criminal who is forced to confront her past and return to illicit activities for one final job, hoping to secure her freedom and leave her former life behind for good. Alongside Bening, Anya Taylor-Joy, Timothy Olyphant, William Fichtner, Eric Lange, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., and Matthew Rauch.

Paul Weitz has co-directed ‘About a Boy,’ as well as helmed ‘Little Fockers,’ ‘Fatherhood,’ ‘Admission,’ ‘Moving On,’ ‘American Dreamz,’ and ‘American Pie.’
