Kevin Bacon will shoot his next horror feature in Winterpeg. Principal photography on ‘Summoner’ will take place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, between August and October this year. Jeremy Slater is the writer and director. The story follows Jefferson Haddock (Bacon), an exorcist called to an isolated witness-protection property to confront a terrifying demon, only to accidentally unleash a force that threatens to end him and everything around him.
Kevin Bacon has a string of horror movies to his credit, including the cult classics ‘Hollow Man,’ ‘Friday the 13th,’ ‘Stir of Echoes,’ and ‘Tremors,’ along with modern horror flicks like ‘You Should Have Left,’ ‘MaXXXine,’ and ‘They/Them.’ The ‘Footloose’ star’s peculiar idiolect enhances the charm of any character he plays. His latest credits include Stan Olszewski in the rom-com ‘The Best You Can,’ co-starring Kyra Sedgwick, Peter Kell in the Netflix drama series ‘Sirens,’ and bounty hunter Hub Halloran in the Prime Video zombie comedy series ‘The Bondsman.’ We will next see him in Yulin Kuang’s romantic comedy movie ‘Beach Read,’ about a romance novelist who reconnects with her college rival while preparing her late father’s beach house for sale. Both suffering from writer’s block, they swap genres in a summer writing challenge.
Jeremy Slater will make his directorial debut with ‘Summoners.’ His works as a writer include Netflix’s ‘The Umbrella Academy,’ Disney+ Marvel’s ‘Moon Knight,’ and Fox’s ‘The Exorcist.’ Some blockbuster movies he has written are ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ (co-written), which grossed over $570 million worldwide, and ‘Mortal Kombat II,’ which grossed over $125 million worldwide. He also co-wrote the upcoming legal comedy movie ‘Coyote vs. Acme,’ which will show Wile E. Coyote taking Acme Corporation to court for its faulty products.
