Guy Ritchie’s Fountain Of Youth Starts Filming in the UK Later This Year

The filming of Guy Ritchie’s ‘Fountain of Youth’ is set to commence in the United Kingdom later this year. The Apple TV+ film revolves around two estranged siblings (John Krasinski and Natalie Portman), who team up for a worldwide heist in pursuit of the mythical Fountain of Youth. Their quest entails leveraging their historical expertise to decipher clues and embarking on an epic adventure that has the potential to alter their destinies and, quite possibly, lead them to immortality.

Ritchie is helming the movie based on a screenplay by James Vanderbilt, whose credits range from David Fincher’s ‘Zodiac’ to Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston’s ‘Murder Mystery 2.’ The filmmaker had a busy 2023, which started with the release of the action-comedy film ‘Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre,’ starring Jason Statham, Aubrey Plaza, and Hugh Grant. The film opened in the international markets last January. It was followed by Jake Gyllenhaal-starrer Afghan war thriller ‘The Covenant,’ which hit theatres in April. In 2023, he also shot the World War II movie ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,’ starring Henry Cavill and Eiza Gonzalez, and an untitled heist thriller that brought together Gyllenhaal, Gonzalez, and Cavill, filmed with a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement during the actors’ strike.

Krasinski is currently completing the post-production of ‘IF,’ a film he wrote, directed, co-produced, and stars in. Set for a theatrical release in May, the movie boasts an impressive cast that includes Ryan Reynolds, Cailey Fleming, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Fiona Shaw, Louis Gossett Jr., and Steve Carell. Krasinski’s directorial career gained momentum with the Oscar-nominated 2019 thriller ‘A Quiet Place,’ a surprise hit that paved the way for the 2021 sequel ‘A Quiet Place: Part II.’ On the acting front, he recently concluded Prime Video’s action series ‘Jack Ryan’ and lent his voice to Superman in ‘DC League of Super-Pets,’ in addition to portraying Reed Richards in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’

Portman and her producing partner Sophie Mas secured a first-look TV deal with Apple TV+ for their production company, MountainA. Under this agreement, they are producing the limited series ‘Lady in the Lake,’ which marks the actress’ foray into TV acting. Additionally, MountainA produced Todd Haynes’ dark comedy ‘May December,’ in which Portman starred alongside Julianna Moore. The performance earned her Golden Globe and Spirit Award nominations. Portman’s recent credits also include Jane Foster in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder.’

‘Fountain of Youth’ is produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger. Tripp Vinson serves as a producer for Vinson Films, along with Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein. Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, and Jake Myers are also producing, while Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella serve as executive producers. The United Kingdom, the principal location of the movie, previously hosted the shooting of Emerald Fennell’s ‘Saltburn,’ Gary Oldman-starrer ‘Slow Horses,’ and Netflix’s romantic drama series ‘My Life with the Walter Boys.’
