Hallmark will bring various dimensions of competitive spirit to the screen! Moviedelic can reveal that the network has ordered the television film ‘A Diamond Engagement.’ Principal photography for the project will start this month in Ottawa, Ontario, and Belgium. The plot revolves around a jeweler who, while visiting her grandfather in Belgium, discovers inspiration for her own jewelry piece. She hopes to showcase it at the Diamond District Valentine’s Day Contest but faces opposition from the local competition. The cast and crew are currently kept under wraps.
Hallmark’s upcoming slate also includes ‘A Reason for the Season,’ directed by Jason Bourque. The TV movie centers on a woman returning to her small hometown to claim an inheritance, with one condition: she must repay the locals who supported her mother on the night of her birth.
Also on the horizon is ‘Private Princess,’ a fresh take on romance with a royal spin. The narrative centers on a young princess who is sent to a tough boot camp by her mother, the Queen, to learn the responsibilities of her position. During her time there, she not only works on improving herself but also falls for the camp’s charismatic leader.
Hallmark is also bringing us a festive Hanukkah tale with its upcoming film, ‘Hanukkah on the Rocks.’ Directed by Sean Garrity, the movie revolves around Tory, a corporate lawyer from Chicago who unexpectedly finds herself unemployed just before the holidays. As she helps her grandmother prepare for the occasion, she questions her career path. A chance encounter at an old bar with Jay, a doctor visiting his grandfather, leads to an unexpected connection as they both seek the last box of Hanukkah candles.
Hallmark productions such as ‘Head Over Heels’ and ‘Paging Mr. Darcy’ were also shot in Ottawa. Meanwhile, Belgium served as the backdrop for notable projects like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Under Paris.’
