Hallmark’s ‘Hope Valley: 1874,’ the prequel to ‘When Calls the Heart,’ was renewed for its second season in May this year. Now, we can tell you that filming of Season 2 will take place in Vancouver starting January 2027. Alfonso H. Moreno, who created the show, will be back as showrunner. The 8-episode sophomore season will arrive in 2027.
The Season 1 finale (Episode 8), titled ‘All That Glitters,’ reveals that it is Jeremiah who stole the gold from the prospector camp, ridding Doyle and Mister Maxwell, whom Rebecca suspected of stealing her ring, of any and all suspicion. It was Jeremiah who stole Rebecca’s ring as well. This happens after Alexander and Tom conduct a huge search. While Doyle intended no harm to anyone, Maxwell’s mission was to find out the natural resources available in the valley. Jeremiah stole the gold just to make a living. After getting caught, he agrees to work off his debt to make the town whole. The case ends with a celebration as people are invited to a new functional boarding house.
Meanwhile, Tom buys Rebecca’s ring back and gives it back to her, a clear sign of his feelings for her. Olivia has decided to go to school, which will take him away from Alexander, who supports her decision. The finale ends with Rebecca being arrested by a Mountie, clearly a move by her deceased husband Jim’s parents, who want Rebecca’s 11-year-old daughter, Sarah, back and make Rebecca pay for taking Sarah away from them.
Considering how Season 1 ends, cast members we can expect to be back for Season 2 include Bethany Joy Lenz as Rebecca Clarke, Benjamin Ayres as Tom Moore, Jill Hennessy as Hattie Quinn, Roan Curtis as Olivia Quinn, and Lachlan Quimby as Alexander Vaughn. Additional cast members poised to return are Chelsea Hobbs as Peggy McCabe, Brad Abramenko as Nash McCabe, Mila Morgan as Sarah Clarke, Alice Comer as Jenny McCabe, Jedidiah Goodacre as Clayton Cooley, Matreya Scarrwener as Rachel Yost, and Grayson Maxwell Gurnsey as Lars Yost.
