Ke Huy Quan and Lili Reinhart will be joining forces in the Sooner State for their next feature. The filming of the horror movie ‘Bad Boy,’ told from the perspective of a dog, will take place in Oklahoma between August 3 and September 11 this year. Jacob Chase will direct, based on a screenplay by Travis Braun.

The story follows Gary, a devoted Terrier, who loves his owner, Asher. When a tragic car crash kills Asher and his family, Gary mourns his boy. Adopted by Cameron (Ke Huy Quan), a seemingly kind man, Gary soon discovers his dark secret-a woman’s shoe buried in the woods leads to a horrifying truth. Cameron is a serial killer, keeping Kat (Lili Reinhart) captive in his basement. As Gary slowly realizes the danger around him, he inadvertently helps Kat in her desperate attempt to escape. Meanwhile, Cameron’s sinister past unfolds, revealing his previous victims and his deadly intentions. With time running out and Cameron growing increasingly violent, Gary must decide where his loyalties lie. As tensions escalate, Gary’s instincts kick in, and he becomes the key to Kat’s survival. With danger at every turn, Gary faces his greatest challenge yet-proving that even a small dog can make a big difference.
Ke Huy Quan playing a serial killer was not on our agenda. However, it will no doubt be interesting to see him play a negative role in a movie. The little Chinese kid from ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ who went on to win an Oscar for his performance as Waymond Wang in ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ now takes on a role he has never attempted before, that of a scary serial killer. We last saw nay heard Quan in ‘Zootopia 2,’ where he voiced the misunderstood Gary De’Snake. His other recent credits include Dr. Amherst/PC in the Netflix sci-fi flick ‘The Electric State,’ Marvin Gable in the action flick ‘Love Hurts,’ Han, a Sunda pangolin, in ‘Kung Fu Panda 4,’ and OB in ‘Loki.’
Lili Reinhart is primarily known for playing Betty Cooper in the CW drama series ‘Riverdale,’ which centers on a group of teenagers navigating romance, school, family, and mysteries. She played Harper in the Mubi comedy-drama series ‘Hal & Harper,’ which centers on two siblings navigating life after their mother’s death and what happens when their father announces he is having a new baby. As far as movies are concerned, we saw her as Apple in the horror comedy ‘Forbidden Fruits,’ which revolves around a witch cult at a mall store; Annabelle in the chick flick crime drama ‘Hustlers,’ centering on a crew of former strip-club employees who go after their Wall Street clients; and Daisy Moriarty in the thriller ‘American Sweatshop,’ wherein a woman is sucked into the underbelly of social media and internet.
Jacob Chase made his feature directorial debut with the rom-com ‘The Four-Faced Liar,’ before shifting to horror. After working on several horror short films, he directed ‘Come Play,’ which shows a monster named Larry manifesting itself through smartphones and mobile devices. The feature film starred Gillian Jacobs. He also helmed several episodes of the Peacock fantasy horror show ‘The Girl in the Woods.’ ‘Insidious: Out of the Further,’ which will be released on August 21, 2026, is also directed by him.
