Kenneth Branagh’s ‘The Goblin’ Starts Filming in New Jersey in October

The Garden State will soon play host to actor Kenneth Branagh. The actor will arrive in New Jersey for his next project, an A24-backed feature film titled ‘The Goblin.’ Principal photography will begin this October. Skyler Gisondo is also cast, and reports suggest Inde Navarrette is in the movie too. David Mikalson wrote the screenplay and will also direct. The story follows a young man with arrested development who becomes the caretaker of an ancient Goblin imprisoned by his family for generations. The Goblin is also the key to the family’s untold wealth.

Kenneth Branagh’s latest film credits include Stuart Simmons, the new husband of Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) in ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ and Hercule Poirot in ‘A Haunting in Venice,’ his third feature directorial adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel, the other two being ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ and ‘Death on the Nile,’ in that order. He also voiced Charles Dickens in the animated movie ‘The King of Kings’ and Abijah Fowler in the Netflix animated series ‘Blue Eye Samurai.’ We will next see him in Reed Van Dyk’s war drama ‘Atonement,’ the Apple TV+ action comedy movie ‘Mayday,’ co-starring Ryan Reynolds, and Michael B. Jordan’s ‘The Thomas Crown Affair,’ also featuring Jordan, Adria Arjona, Aubrey Plaza, and Paapa Essiedu.

Skyler Gisondo played Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen in James Gunn’s ‘Superman.’ Other movies he is a part of are ‘Licorice Pizza,’ ‘The Social Dilemma,’ ‘Booksmart,’ ‘Vacation,’ and ‘Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.’ We also saw him as Howard Stacy, brother of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ movies. He voiced Ben in the Netflix animated series ‘Haunted Hotel.’ Next up for Gisondo is ‘Focker-in-Law,’ the fourth installment in the ‘Meet the Parents’ franchise, ‘Shrek 5,’ where he has voiced Farkle, one of the two sons of Shrek and Fiona, and Gunn’s ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ the sequel to ‘Superman.’

Inde Navarrette claimed the spotlight with her performance as Nikki in the horror movie ‘Obsession.’ Before this, she played Sarah Cushing in ‘Superman & Lois,’ Estela de la Cruz in ‘13 Reasons Why,’ and Veronica in the sitcom ‘Denton’s Death Date.’

David Mikalson has a string of shorts to his directorial credits, including ‘Stuck,’ ‘B.E.,’ ‘Stay,’ ‘Coach Ricardo,’ and ‘Stone Rockwell.’ He has also helmed several episodes of ‘’Catlands,’ ‘AwesomenessTV,’ and ‘3 Love.’ Miklason made his feature film debut with the horror movie ‘Best Ribs in Town,’ which came out in 2009. ‘The Goblin’ will be his sophomore feature.
