‘The Testaments’ Season 2 Starts Filming in Toronto in August

Filming for Season 2 of Hulu’s ‘The Testaments,’ a sequel to ‘The Handmaid’s Tale,’ will begin in August in Toronto, Ontario. Bruce Miller will be back as showrunner, with Mike Barker returning to direct the episodes.

In the Season 1 finale (Episode 10), titled ‘Secateurs,’ we see the aftermath of Becka’s arrest by the Eyes for the murder of her father, Dr. Grove, the dentist at Gilead. While Commander Weston agrees to help Agnes after she reveals why Becka killed Grove, he later breaks off his wedding with her since she is too close to the scandal.

Becka is allowed to temporarily go home, where her mother, Mrs. Grove, moved by the words of Daisy, leads her to change the story and claim responsibility for her husband’s murder. This way, Becka will be safe, though she will, in all probability, receive a death sentence. And that’s exactly what happens. However, we see Becka get married to Garth, whom Agnes has implored for the same. Before the wedding, Becka and Agnes share a kiss. Meanwhile, Mrs. Grove is executed.

Meanwhile, Daisy, who believes she is responsible for Becka’s fate since she filed the complaint against Grove, meets June at the evacuation station. While Mayday operatives arrive to rescue many people, Daisy is told by June that she has to wait and endure if she wants to see the fall of Gilead. Moreover, Daisy also figures that Agnes is indeed June’s daughter. We then see Agnes learn from Daisy that she is the daughter of June Osborne, the Handmaid labeled a terrorist in Gilead. She also finds out that her real name is Hannah.

The finale ends with Daisy sending a message to June about how she intends to build an army and destroy Gilead from the inside. It ends with Daisy walking hand in hand with Agnes and Shunnamite, signifying that the downfall of Gilead is about to begin.

Considering how Season 1 of ‘The Testaments’ ends, cast members we can expect to return for Season 2 include Chase Infiniti as Agnes, Lucy Halliday as Daisy, Rowan Blanchard as Shunammite, Mattea Conforti as Becka, Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia, Mabel Li as Aunt Vidala, Brad Alexander as Commander Garth, and Elisabeth Moss as June.

Season 1 of ‘The Testaments’ was also filmed in Toronto.
