Lily James will soon head to Ireland for her next feature. The filming of ‘Seasons,’ a horror feature backed by Amazon MGM, will take place there starting this August. The Prime Video movie is based on a viral horror short story by Matt and Harrison Query, which first appeared on Reddit and was later turned into a novel. Harrison Query and Drew Hancock adapted the screenplay. Hancock will direct as well.
The story follows a couple, Harry and Sasha (James), who find their dream house on a ranch in Idaho. Harry is a soldier getting back to life, so he and Sasha bid what they can, which is a lowball offer. They get the ranch but find they are not alone. Soon they meet their neighbors, who inform them that there is a malevolent spirit in the valley, one that manifests itself by coming to the house in the same manner at the start of each season. There are certain steps that must be followed to keep the spirit out of their house, and the tension and violence grow with each gory ritual as the duel between the spirits and the ex-Marine soldier becomes personal.
Lily James’s breakthrough role was Cinderella in Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Cinderella,’ which came out in 2015, although her fans know her as Lady Rose MacClare from the TV show ‘Downton Abbey.’ Her notable roles include Juliet Ashton in ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society,’ Peggy Piggott in ‘The Dig,’ Pamela Anderson in ‘Pam & Tommy,’ and Debora in ‘Baby Driver.’ Among her recent credits are Sarah Grant in the thriller ‘Relay,’ co-starring Riz Ahmed, and Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd in ‘Swiped.’ We will next see her in Takashi Miike’s ‘Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo,’ Jaume Collet-Serra’s ‘Cliffhanger’ reboot, and another Amazon MGM movie titled ‘Subversion,’ directed by Patrick Vollrath and co-starring Chris Hemsworth, Teresa Palmer, and Michael Peña.
Drew Hancock made his feature directorial debut with the sci-fi horror thriller movie ‘Companion,’ which is about an AI-powered human companion robot gone rogue. ‘Seasons’ will be his sophomore feature project.
