Lucia Mascino has found her next leading role! Moviedelic can reveal that the actress has joined the cast of Rai’s upcoming series ‘La Ragazza Dietro il Banco.’ The filming of the show will start in Rome and Emilia-Romagna, Italy, on September 2 and conclude in December. Anna Mittone wrote the project, with Giacomo Campiotti on board as the director. Mascino will star alongside Cristiana Capotondi. The plot of the series is currently under wraps.
Mascino is known for playing Gabriella Gianmatteo in Prime Video’s crime drama ‘Bang Bang Baby’ and Gabriella in Netflix’s political thriller ‘Suburra: Blood on Rome.’ Over the years, the actress has been part of several acclaimed projects, such as Nanni Moretti’s ‘We Have a Pope,’ Giuseppe Piccioni’s ‘The Red and the Blue,’ and Roberto Andò’s ‘Long Live Freedom.’ Several of her films have been screened at prestigious events such as the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival.
Capotondi’s most recent project was the biographical TV movie ‘Margherita delle Stelle,’ which tells the story of Margherita Hack. Earlier this year, she appeared as Isabella Di Rienzo in ‘Succede Anche Nelle Migliori Famiglie,’ a film about the seemingly perfect Di Rienzo family, whose stability is shattered by the sudden death of the father—a respected professional and the family’s cornerstone. Capotondi’s other prominent credits include ‘The Ignorant Angels,’ ‘Chiara Lubich – L’amore Vince Tutto,’ and ‘Bella da Morire,’ in which she played Eva Cantini, a police inspector who returns to her hometown to support her sister, Rachele, a single mother.
Mittone recently wrote ‘Anna,’ which centers on a 30-year-old woman who manages a small farm in the pristine landscapes of Sardinia. Her life takes a dramatic turn when plans for a massive resort development threaten her land, pushing her into the toughest fight of her life. Mittone has also contributed to numerous episodes of popular TV series, including ‘Il Paradiso delle Signore’ and ‘Un Medico in Famiglia.’
Campiotti recently directed the biographical film ‘Ennio Doris – C’è Anche Domani.’ He also directed several episodes of the series ‘La Lunga Notte,’ set in 1943, in which Dino Grandi, President of the Chamber of Fasces, anticipates the impending collapse of the regime and attempts to restore Italy to the Savoy monarchy amid intense political tensions. Campiotti is also recognized for ‘Chiara Lubich – L’amore Vince Tutto’ and ‘Ognuno è Perfetto.’
Emilia-Romagna has emerged as a growing hub for film productions, attracting major projects like ‘Ferrari’ and ‘Kidnapped: The Abduction of Edgardo Mortara.’ Meanwhile, Rome remains a favored location, having hosted the filming of projects such as ‘The Decameron’ and ‘Those About to Die.’
