If there is only one way we can ever describe Mike Durrant from Bravo’s ‘Below Deck Down Under’ season 4, it would have to be energetic owing to the way he carries himself at every moment. Whether it be with guests, with crew members, or just while working as a stew, he has a charm that immediately brightens up the place and a personality that makes him the life of the party. Even though this season is his debut in the Bravo world, though, he is no stranger to the world of entertainment or reality television since he was previously on season 1 of ‘Dating Naked UK.’
Mike Durrant Has Never Shied Away From the World of Entertainment
A native of Newcastle, England, Mike Durrant was admittedly quite young when he fell in love with not only entertainment but also engineering, pushing him to pursue both. In fact, from what we can tell, upon graduating high school, he enrolled in university to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering before realizing he wanted a rather non-traditional career. He thus got into the yachting industry, where he served as an onshore vessel engineer for around 6 years before finding himself up for a new kind of adventure and applying to be on ‘Below Deck.’
However, by this point, he had already gotten a taste of what reality television is like since he had done wonders on season 1 of the UK reality dating show, ‘Dating Naked,’ where he did not hold back. The fact that it was a change for him from life aboard was a significant reason he agreed to be on the show, right alongside the fact that he wanted to find a partner and simultaneously dabble in entertainment. Nevertheless, his love remains yachting and traveling, even if it means he has to work “pretty much 24 hours of the day — weekends and weekdays no longer exists.”
Mike Durrant’s Love for Dance and Family Shines Through in His Everyday Life
Although yachting is Mike Durrant’s one true love to this day, he is also deeply passionate about leading an active life, traveling for pleasure, and spending quality time with his loved ones. While he loves to go to the gym and is currently a blue belt in the art form of jiu jitsu, his favorite way to exert as well as energize himself is through dance. In fact, with his ability to mix his agile moves with his back flips and charms, he spent a significant portion of late 2024 and early 2025 at the Purple Peacock Newcastle, the only immersive showbar experience in his hometown as a dancer.
Apart from that, we should mention that he adores spending downtime with his family, especially his young niece Bonnie, but it has been hard for him to do so frequently in recent times. After all, he currently splits his time between his hometown in England and Spain, where he has managed to build a life for himself, surrounded by close friends and a support system. Coming to his travels, his favorite place to go is the “west coast of Greece” because it comprises “some of the most beautiful islands in the world on a flotilla,” but he has been all across the globe recently. Whether it be the US, Poland, France, Italy, UAE, Thailand, or the Philippines, he has been everywhere in the past 5 years.
