Fox’s ‘Next Level Chef’ brings incredibly talented home, social media, and professional chefs into the culinary battleground, where the kitchens are set up on different levels. The judges/mentors who help the contestants navigate the competition are Nyesha Arrington, Richard Blais, and Gordon Ramsay. In season 5, episode 14, titled ‘The Ultimate Goal,’ the remaining five competitors must give it their all to prepare fusion dishes, inspired by the popular game of soccer. Tonight, the mentors welcome another judge who is famous for the same sport.
The Top 5 Contestants Take on a FIFA World Cup-Themed Fusion Challenge
As soon as the competitors arrive in the welcoming area, they are shocked to find it has been changed into a mini soccer ground. Gordon announces that today they are celebrating one of the most incredible sports events in the world, the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be airing this summer. He continues that the last time the US hosted the World Cup was in 1994, so they have decided to bring in a legend from that team. Without further ado, they welcome the soccer star and FOX Sports Lead Analyst, Alexi Lalas. When the mentors ask Alexi for his advice to the contestants, he asks them to believe in themselves. Gordon then declares that one of the greatest things the World Cup does is bring the nations together. Hence, for today’s challenge, the Top 5 chefs must prepare fusion dishes.

Richard promptly adds that the contestants have to honor two culinary traditions by preparing one next-level fusion dish in 30 minutes. It turns out that Alexi will help the mentors judge the dishes in tonight’s cook-off. Gordon then asks Connor how he wishes to use the Time Token since he won it in the last episode. After considerable deliberation, Connor decides to keep the extra 10 seconds for himself because he believes his best dishes have always been created from his intentional grabs. Gordon then reveals that today, Gabrielle will cook in the Basement under Gordon’s guidance, while Connor and Cole will prepare their dishes in the Top Kitchen with Richard. Lastly, Darian and Andy are set to cook in the Middle Kitchen under Nyesha’s supervision. After the chefs and the mentors reach their respective kitchens, the platform first descends into the Top Kitchen.
Connor gets a head start due to his Time Token and picks the USA basket. During Cole’s turn, she selects Spain for her first group of components. In the Middle Kitchen, Andy and Darian pick the baskets representing Mexico and Argentina. By the time the platform reaches the Basement, Gabrielle gets the England basket. Once the 30 minutes on the clock begin ticking, Nyesha speaks with Darian to learn about the dish he plans to cook. When the mentor turns to Andy, the chef reveals she wants an Italian basket to pair with her Mexican dish. In the Top Kitchen, Richard approaches Cole and learns that she wants something spicy for her next grab. Shortly after, the platform arrives for the next grab. While Connor chooses the Italian basket, Cole opts for the South Korean basket to incorporate gochujang into her dish.
Tension Rises Across All Three Kitchens as the Chefs Battle Risky Ingredients
Once the platform reaches the Middle Kitchen, Darian grabs the basket of German ingredients, while Andy chooses Canada. Andy soon realizes she has never made a Mexican-Canadian fusion dish and admits she has made a mistake. Fortunately, when Gabrielle receives the Brazilian basket, she is elated because it pairs perfectly with her concept. In the meantime, Andy begins wondering how she can use her Canadian ingredient and fuse it with the Mexican dish. When Richard arrives at Cole’s station, he asks her to get the rice cooking. Moving on, the mentor urges Connor to begin cooking his chicken. With just 22 minutes left on the clock, Gordon suggests that Gabrielle should add the local Brazilian liquor from the grab to her batter. He further suggests using it as a deglazing agent in her dish. Soon after, they are joined by Alexi, who notes that Gabrielle’s preparation smells and looks appetizing.

As 15 minutes pass by, Alexi reaches the Middle Kitchen and discovers that Darian also used to play soccer as a defender in Jamaica. After the soccer star’s departure, Nyesha asks Darian how he plans to create a fusion of Argentina and Germany. However, it makes the contestant worried because both countries have different cuisines, and it’s hard to combine them. While he tries to figure out a way to work with his ingredients, Richard instructs Cole and Connor to ensure their rice and chicken are not undercooked. When Alexi finally arrives at the Top Kitchen, he tells Connor to make an incredible dish and playfully adds that he will heckle the chef if he fails. In the final 12 minutes, Nyesha suggests that Darian should use his sauerkraut in his chimichurri to enhance the flavors.
In his confessional, Darian admits that he has never done anything like this before, but he is the best at creating fusion dishes because that’s what his restaurant is all about. As 2 more minutes pass, Gabrielle reveals that she feels she and Gordon are a great team after he remarks that they should do this again. In the Top Kitchen, Cole tells Richard that she is falling a little behind, and the mentor quickly asks her to add more stock to her pan. In the meantime, Darian asks Nyesha to taste his sauce, which the judge finds to be delicious. With just 4 minutes left, Cole horrifically realizes that her rice is not yet cooked. It makes her concerned that it will not be cooked properly by the time the clock runs out. In the final few seconds, the contestants finish plating their dishes and successfully place them on the platform.
Darian Secures the Time Token and the First Spot in the Semifinals With His Dish
It is finally time for the judges to begin tasting the dishes cooked by the Top 5 chefs. They begin with Connor’s fried chicken parmesan, which impresses Alexi, Nyesha, and Gordon. However, Gordon points out that the chicken needs a little more salt since it is heavily battered. Richard adds that the chef has done a phenomenal job, but he wishes the tomatoes were brighter. Next up is Cole’s gochujang paella, which receives great praise from Alexi and Nyesha. While Gordon mentions the rice needs to be cooked for 90 more seconds, Richard remarks that he would’ve liked a better balance to the dish’s salinity.

The Middle Kitchen dish tasting begins with Andy’s pork chop. Richard observes that it’s hard for him to differentiate the countries represented by the dish, and it is a little overcooked. However, Gordon praises the sauce’s flavors. Upon tasting Darian’s spice-rubbed ribeye, all the judges are left impressed. Lastly, they taste the fish and chips prepared by Gabrielle in the Basement. Alexi mentions that he wants more Brazilian flavors in the dish. Although Richard points out that the preparation doesn’t visually represent Brazil, he cannot say the same about the flavors. After Alexi bids everyone goodbye, the judges excuse themselves to make their decision.
Following an intense discussion, Nyesha announces that the best dish of the night is prepared by Darian. He also earns the Time Token and becomes the first competitor to advance to the Semifinals. Richard then reveals that the contestants who will battle it out in the Elimination Round are Cole and Andy. For this round, they will pay tribute to Alexi’s Greek roots. Richard announces that Cole and Andy must prepare a next-level Greek entrée within 25 minutes. As the contestants and Richard arrive in the Top Kitchen, they prepare themselves for the upcoming grab.
A Tense Greek-Inspired Elimination Round Culminates in Andy’s Elimination
As soon as the platform arrives, Andy and Cole discover that they have a rack of lamb as their protein. After the ingredient grab, the chefs rush to their stations to execute their vision for the dish. Richard advises the contestants to quickly sear their protein and get it into the oven as soon as possible. As 5 minutes on the clock pass by, he urges Cole to put the rack of lamb in the oven without delay. With just 15 minutes remaining, Andy realizes her potatoes are not boiling because she forgot to turn on the fire. As she tries to salvage the situation, the mentor instructs her to make sure the potatoes are properly cooked. In the meantime, when Cole checks her protein, she discovers that it is still undercooked and needs more time in the oven.

Cole becomes worried because it can eventually send her home if it’s not properly prepared. As the time finally comes to an end, both contestants complete plating their dishes. The tasting begins with Andy’s dish after Nyesha and Gordon enter the kitchen. Although both mentors praise the flavors of her preparation, Gordon notes that the lamb has been overcooked for about 90 seconds. It is now the turn for Cole’s dish, which receives praise from Nyesha and Gordon. Yet, the latter feels that since the yogurt dressing is high in fat, it’s better to reduce it slightly. Ultimately, both judges decide to eliminate Andy’s dish. It leaves Gordon and Nyesha completely devastated.
Gordon expresses that Andy truly has a future in the culinary industry, while Nyesha says the contestant has honed her skills throughout the competition. The chef admits that it has been an honor to be a part of this journey with them. This is a dream come true for her because she never imagined she would be here. Andy feels her journey from South Africa to America only shows what’s possible. She is quite excited to let her cooking talent bloom further. In her exit interview, Andy mentions she is proud of herself for getting this far. However, she is heartbroken that her journey ends here. After Andy says an emotional goodbye to everyone, Gordon asks the semifinalists, Connor, Darian, Gabrielle, and Cole, to get some rest because next time, a spot in the finale and their legacy will be on the line.
