Ryan Phillippe’s One Mile Starts Filming in Tennessee/Vancouver in August 2024

Ryan Phillippe’s upcoming film ‘One Mile’ will start filming in Tennessee/Vancouver in August 2024. The drama film follows a father who, after being released from prison, tries to reconnect with his daughter by taking her on a college tour. “They soon find themselves fighting for more than their lost relationship when a murderous cult, living in the woods, pursues them,” as per the official logline.

The script of the film is penned by John Hlavin, who is known for writing and/or executive producing multiple episodes of television shows such as ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth,’ ‘Shooter,’ and ‘Blood Drive.’ No director is currently attached to the project. Hlavin also executive produces the film along with Kevin Marco.

Ryan Phillippe stars in the film as the father and serves as a producer. Phillippe is recognized for his performances as Barry William Cox in ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer,’ Hunter in ‘Collide,’ Miller Graham in ‘The Locksmith,’ and Charley Flood in ‘Brothers by Blood.’ He previously collaborated with Hlavin on ‘Shooter.’ The rest of the cast members have not been announced as of now.

The film is produced by Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, marking the company’s debut in the feature segment after producing several shows, including ‘Tell Me a Story,’ ‘American Auto,’ and ‘Women of the Movement.’ The idea for the film was conceived by Aaron’s daughter, Jaiden Kaplan, while she was on a college tour with her father in 2019. At the time, the two were driving on a desolate highway in the Northeast, surrounded by dense forests and half-frozen lakes.

Jaiden also serves as a producer of the project, along with Aaron, Brian Morewitz, and Michael Lohmann. Kapital Entertainment earlier worked with Phillippe on the first season of ABC’s mystery anthology series ‘Secrets and Lies.’ The distribution of the film is handled by Paramount Global Content Distribution. Meanwhile, a sequel to the movie is also already in the works and the two projects are planned to be shot back-to-back.

Tennessee’s diverse natural landscapes and the combination of historic and urban sites make it the ideal location for the production of different shows and movies. The state has previously hosted the filming of ‘The Matrix,’ ‘Walk the Line,’ ‘The Silence of the Lambs,’ ‘Cast Away,’ ‘The Green Mile,’ ‘The Evil Dead,’ and ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter.’ Vancouver, on the other hand, is a shooting location of ‘Shōgun’ and ‘Criminal Minds.’
