In the fourth episode of TLC’s ‘My 600-lb Life’ season 11, the audience is acquainted with Syreeta Covington, who was not dealt an easy hand by life since her childhood. Struggling with mental health issues after a traumatic childhood, she found comfort in food, which ultimately led to her getting overweight. As she learned to let her husband help her get on track when it came to her physical health, she also had to trust her surgeon, who gave her a weight goal to achieve so that she could proceed with the surgery.
Syreeta Covington Faced Many Obstacles in Her Journey
Growing up, Syreeta Covington endured different kinds of abuse as a child, including physical, mental, and sexual. In order to cope with her traumatic experiences, she turned to food and found comfort, developing a rather unhealthy relationship with it. She confessed, “Food fulfils me. It fills empty voids that humans can’t fulfill. When I put my mind elsewhere, it puts me in a happy place.” When she met Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, AKA Dr. Now, a renowned bariatric surgeon, she had been dealing with multiple health issues due to her weight, which was over 600 pounds. Dr. Now recommended that she shed some weight in order to be eligible for the bariatric surgery.

Her weight loss journey was full of ups and downs, but she managed to lose 59 pounds thanks to the doctor’s recommended diet and exercise program. After her initial drop in weight, Dr. Now asked her to drop another 25 pounds in a month, which proved to be more than just difficult. Instead of losing weight, Syreeta gained nine more pounds in the following four months. It further delayed her surgery as she failed to reach the goals set by Dr. Now. Determined to get back on track, Syreeta went to therapy and managed to lose 40 pounds in the next couple of months.
The surgeon encouraged her to continue on her journey and told her that she would be eligible for the surgery if she progressed at the same rate in the following months. All in all, she lost a total of 97 pounds and weighed 506 pounds. Throughout her weight loss journey, she was supported by her husband, Lawrence Covington, with whom she wanted to have a baby in the near future. Having lived a difficult life, she was optimistic about the positive changes and looked forward to leading a happier and healthier life.
Syreeta Covington Continues to Take Her Health Seriously With Her Husband’s Constant Support
Once the show concluded, Syreeta Covington seemingly continued to stay on her weight loss journey. In August 2022, she even completed a workout session of more than 45 minutes by herself, without the help of her trainer, indicating her determination and motivation to stay on the right track. Her loving husband, Lawrence, has continued to provide all the support Syreeta needs. From what we can tell, the happily married couple resides in Columbus, Ohio, where Lawrence works as a coach for 7th and 8th-grade students at Reigning Sports Academy Thunder.
Since fishing and wildlife in general are his passions, he ensures that he takes time from his busy schedule to go fishing every once in a while and spend time with nature. In September 2024, they celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary. On the special occasion, Lawrence shared their photos on social media, stating, “We been married for 4 years today I love Syreeta Page.” Besides her husband, she also has a child of her own, whom she dotes upon. Not only is she a devoted wife and mother, but she is also a therapist and hairstylist. Although not much is revealed about her weight loss journey at the moment, it seems that Syreeta also accompanies her husband on his fishing trips and tries her best to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
