Helmed by Nottapon Boonprakob and Jakkarin Thepvong, Netflix’s ‘The Evil Lawyer,’ also known as ‘Thanai Pisat,’ is a Thai legal thriller series that begins by ensnaring a lawyer named Mek into a criminal conspiracy that stretches several decades and connects to many powerful people. Framed for a murder that he didn’t commit, Mek has no choice but to seek the help of the most infamous lawyer in town, described by her peers as the titular “evil lawyer.” In reality, however, Jittri is merely someone who does not shy away from playing a broken system to her advantage, and as it stands, that is precisely the kind of attorney Mek needs.
At the end of the first season, Mek is found innocent, but barely gets a chance to breathe before he and Jittri are made to meet Kosol, Anan’s criminal boss, and the man who killed Mek’s mother. With the season ending on such an ambiguous note, fans are naturally curious about the potential next chapter of the tale. While Netflix has not confirmed a sequel as of writing, in the best-case scenario, fans can expect a second season to release sometime around late 2027 to 2028.
The Evil Lawyer Season 2 Can Bring Kosol to the Forefront of the Conflict
While Netflix has not greenlit a sequel to ‘The Evil Lawyer’ as of writing, season 1’s cliffhanger ending leaves more than enough room for a potential continuation. It seems that we have only now been introduced to the true antagonist of this story: Kosol, the kingpin who killed Mek’s mother all those years ago. Given his connections to Anan, it is also likely that he played a role in the death of Jittri’s father, which solidifies his position as the grand mastermind behind everything that has gone wrong in this world. Ironically enough, Jittri is now his lawyer, and with Anan dead, she might have to become the underworld’s new power broker, regardless of whether she wants it. However, the real highlight of this potential plotline has to be Mek, who is left betrayed, but also burning with fury, seeing his mother’s killer.

Though Mek has been fighting a battle to defend himself this entire time, the court proceedings also have a direct sociopolitical effect that he channels by the end. His clash with Kosol, therefore, is more than just a personal vendetta. Taking down Kosol can singularly ensure that the tragedy of Nay Oo’s sister never happens again, but to pull off a near-impossible feat like that will need more than just guts. With Judge Rit disbarred, Mek essentially has no support left in the legal system, except for the lawyer who has just saved his life.
While Mek earlier planned to sever all ties with Jittri, that can likely no longer happen. What’s best for him, then, is to get Jittri on his side, for if there’s one thing she is best at, it’s turning the tide in the most impossible moments. Another burning question left unanswered is Nay Oo’s fate, as the show still seems intent on teasing the possibility that she is still alive. Regardless, fans can expect a potential second season to answer this mystery, bringing Seya the closure and, hopefully, the justice he’s been seeking this entire time.
The Evil Lawyer Season 2 Might be Bidding a Major Character Goodbye
A potential season 2 of ‘The Evil Lawyer’ is expected to retain most of its characters, with actors Nat Kitcharit and Rhatha Phongam spearheading the show as Mek and Jittri, respectively. Alongside them, actor Atchareeya Potipipittanakorn is very likely to return to the show as Ang, alongside actor Sarinrat Thomas, who plays Ang’s mother, Dr. Atchara. However, if there’s someone who is likely to steal the spotlight in the show’s next installment, it’s actor Nopachai Jayanama, who plays Kosol, the grand antagonist of this narrative. In line with this, actor Phollawat Manuprasert is also expected to return as Judge Rit, expanding on Mek’s mysterious past.

The most shocking deaths in ‘The Evil Lawyer’ season 1 happen at the start and end of the show, with Techin and his father, Anan, both meeting a gruesome death. Therefore, actors Songsit Roongnophakunsri and Paopetch Charoensook aren’t likely to return to the show. Another mystery lies in whether actor Phunthida Phairuangkij will be reprising her role as Nay Oo, as the character’s disappearance continues to be the biggest unanswered question of the show. Additionally, Actor Panksakorn Teekarungruang, Sawaneee Navinthanachai, and Sira Simee are all likely to step back into the roles of Seya, Aunt Noi, and Kang, respectively.
The Evil Lawyer Season 2 Can Bridge More of Mek and Jittri’s Past With Their Present
While a potential ‘The Evil Lawyer’ season 2 is bound to center around Kosol and his criminal empire, Mek’s relationship with Ang can make for the perfect parallel plotline, especially because of how much is still left unsaid between them. The former love-birds broke up after the boat tragedy, and while Ang has made peace with her past and stood up to the injustices, the subject of resuming their relationship still hasn’t come up. A large reason for that is simply how abrupt and disruptive Kosol’s entry is. With a sequel season, however, Mek and Ang’s love story can get the care and attention that it deserves. That said, both characters have gone through a major transformative arc, and before their relationship can begin again, the two might have to test if they are still compatible to begin with.

Another thread that the first season teases but doesn’t resolve lies in Jittri and Mek’s similar, but unrelated pasts. In Jittri’s case, we get vague details that are sprinkled throughout the show and convey that, at the very least, her father was murdered by the police. However, what we still don’t have an answer to is the “why” of this story. For Anan to kill a man during an interrogation seems out-of-character in retrospect, and combined with the mysterious death of Jittri’s mother, there might be more here than meets the eye. When it comes to Mek, we know next to nothing about the car incident that claimed his mother’s life, save for the fact that Kosol is to blame. A potential Season 2 of ‘The Evil Lawyer’ can thus take a step back into the past, filling in the gaps before moving forward with the next story arcs.
