The Floor Season 6 Episode 2 Recap: The $20,000 Advantage

Season 6 of Fox’s ‘The Floor’ is a high-stakes competition where 100 contestants, including all champions and record holders in their respective fields, battle through a series of head-to-head duels. Overseeing the duels is the host, Rob Lowe, who keeps the competition moving while bringing his energy to the intense battles. In episode 2, titled ‘The $20,000 Advantage,’ the game continues as the remaining 92 contestants hope to win against their opponents and expand their territory. With a $250,000 grand prize on the line, every duel carries the potential to change the game dramatically.

Bella’s Journey Comes to an End as Elizabeth Wins the Opening Duel

Once the episode begins, Rob Lowe admits that this may be the group of the “rowdiest” contestants the show has ever seen. With 92 of the champions still standing, tonight there will be eight more duels, and the person to have the most turfs by the end of the night can take home $20,000. Rob eventually turns his attention to Wellington, who inherited the Après Ski category in the last duel the previous night. After much consideration of his available options, he finally decides to return to the floor. As the Randomizer is activated for the first time that night, it selects 25-year-old NCAA Champion Bella, an expert in the Perfumes category.

Rob quickly informs Bella that she can choose to challenge any of the categories: Paralympic Events, Field Trips, Preschool, or Chemistry. After considering her options, she chooses to challenge 47-year-old ‘Guy’s Grocery Games’ winner Elizabeth from the Preschool category. Bella notes that since she plays volleyball, she has to make decisions swiftly, so her strategy is to process the answers quickly. Upon being asked, Elizabeth reveals that she is an early childhood educator and has taught in a kindergarten for 14 years, leading her to choose Preschool as her expert category. For the first duel, the contestants must identify the item or place associated with preschool.

Despite Bella’s best efforts, the intense battle ends in her elimination. It helps Elizabeth earn two turfs, and she inherits Perfumes as her category. When Rob informs her of her options, she decides to play it safe and return to her territory. Once the Randomizer is activated, it lands on 26-year-old Rodeo Champion Savana with the State Animals category. She has the options: Olympians, Weaponry, Martial Arts, and Muscles. Following that, she reveals that she is a professional chiropractor and decides to challenge 40-year-old Car Jitsu Champion Shamir, an expert in the Muscles category. In her confessional, Savana remarks that she is quite competitive and wants to take a few risks to get the time boost.

Henry Proves His Expertise by Claiming Four Turfs and Winning Two Duels in a Row

For the second duel of the night, Savana and Shamir must name the muscle or muscle group shown on the screen. After an intense duel, Shamir claims control of two turfs and inherits the State Animals category by eliminating her opponent. She then discovers that her upcoming options include Female Olympians, Build-a-Bear, Jumping, Action Sports, Weaponry, and Martial Arts. Shamir notes that she is not intimidated by anyone and hence decides to challenge the 26-year-old Extreme Pogo World Champion, Henry, an expert in the Jumping category. She discloses that her strategy has always been to go for the Jumping category, then return to Martial Arts and Weaponry, because she wants to win the $20,000 prize.

In his confessional, Henry discloses that he has been jumping for a living for about 12 years, so he feels Shamir is making a mistake by coming after him. Upon reaching the stage, he tells Rob about his signature pogo stick move. As the third duel commences, the competitors go head-to-head to name the things associated with jumping. Ultimately, Henry wins the round and gains three territories, ending Shamir’s journey. He also inherits the State Animals category and eventually sets his sights on the eight available options. Since Henry feels confident about the Action Sports category, he picks its expert, 42-year-old James, who is also the ‘Race to the Center of the Earth’ winner.

James feels that he and his opponent share many interests, but he believes he is faster because he is an adventure racer. He then reveals that in ‘Race to the Center of the Earth,’ he and a team of three teachers raced from Vietnam to Thailand, then to Singapore, and finally to Hawaii for a $1 million prize. Without wasting any time, Rob announces that for the fourth duel of the night, James and Henry must identify the extreme sports they will see on the screen. Fortunately, Henry gains victory and earns four turfs, retaining his inherited category of State Animals. Rob quickly reminds him that if the competitor can win another duel, he may get the chance to earn one of the game-changing advantages: Time Boost, Category Steal, or the new Power Shot.

Guenther Continues His Winning Streak by Sending Dr. Tre and Paige Home

With an important decision ahead of him, Henry focuses on considering his options. He points out that he feels several of the category experts around him are well-versed in their topic. Therefore, he admits that he wants to play it safe and return to the floor. Consequently, the Randomizer is activated again, and it lands on 27-year-old Wakeboarding World Champion Guenther, who has expertise in the Shipwrecks category. For his upcoming duel, he can choose from Chess, International Cities, Racing Events, and Laundry. Rob promptly informs Guenther that he can select the Laundry category since its contestant, 54-year-old Dr. Tre, had inherited it in her last duel.

Since Guenther is ready to play strategically, he decides to challenge Dr. Tre for the fifth duel. On stage, Guenther reveals that he and his wife are both Wakeboarding World Champions and that he met her through that sport. As Rob turns his focus to Dr. Tre, she remarks that she loves doing laundry and feels good about the challenge. For this duel, the contestants have to identify items associated with cleaning clothes. After a neck-and-neck battle, Dr. Tre sadly bids goodbye to the game while her opponent gets control of three turfs and retains his original category. Following that, Guenther considers his options of Racing Events, Latte Art, Christmas Ornaments, Hotels, Chess, and International Cities.

Shortly after, Guenther states that although he is not much of a holiday person, he will challenge the expert from the Christmas Ornaments category, a 35-year-old Storm Photographer of the Year named Paige. In his confessional, he divulges that after winning this duel, his strategy is to go against the Après Ski category. Eventually, Paige tells Rob that she is a two-time award-winning photographer in her field of storm chasing. For the sixth duel, the competitors must identify the zoomed-in holiday decorations on the screen. Unfortunately, despite giving it her all, Paige is eliminated from the game after the intense battle. In the meantime, Guenther wins four pieces of the floor and once again retains his category.

Guenther Claims the $20,000 and Uses the Power Shot Before the Final Duel

After two consecutive victories, Rob informs Guenther that he can choose from the following categories: Chess, International Cities, Racing Events, Hotels, Bedroom Items, Latte Art, and Après Ski. The host also reminds him that if he selects Après Ski, he can take the lead for the $20,000. It turns out that Guenther has been snow skiing as long as he has been wakeboarding. Hence, he selects Maine Pro Bono Counsel Honoree Wellington, who is in the Après Ski category. Once the competitors take their places on the stage, Rob announces that the seventh duel of the night will be for seven pieces of the floor, and if Guenther wins, he can select one of the advantages from Time Boost, Power Shot, and Category Steal.

In this duel, Guenther and Wellington must identify the items used to either hit the slope or relax afterward. With just one second remaining on the clock, Guenther manages to win the duel and earn seven turfs. Rob reminds him that the contestant is in a favorable position since he can become the first person ever to use the Power Shot and pick the next competitor. Guenther ultimately declares that he will select the Power Shot to follow his strategy and get the Randomizer far away from himself to win the $20,000. Following that, he picks 40-year-old HVAC Champion Craig with expertise in the category of Safety Gear for the last duel of the night, before returning to the floor himself.

Subsequently, Guenther becomes the winner of the $20,000 and retains his original expert category. As Rob focuses on Craig, the host reveals that he has the options of Hawaii, Compost, and Burlesque. After much deliberation, the competitor challenges 45-year-old World Champion Pumpkin Grower Travis, who has Compost as the expert category. On stage, Travis reveals that the pumpkin that helped him become the world champion was 2,749 lbs. For the final duel, the contestants have to name the biodegradable items on the screen. Once the battle comes to an end, Craig is eliminated from the game while Travis takes control of two turfs. With 84 competitors remaining, we have to wait until the next episode to learn Travis’ decision about whether he will continue playing or return to the floor.
