Casey Barlowe and the Justice Warriors will return to your screens soon! Moviedelic can confirm that ‘Eye for an Eye,’ a sequel to ‘True Justice: Family Ties,’ is in development at Hallmark. The project will enter production in Ottawa, Ontario, in February this year. Katherine McNamara, Sabrina Saudin, and Marisa McIntyre will reprise their original characters. The director has yet to be revealed, although we can expect Jonathan Wright, who directed the first film, to helm this one too. ‘Eye for an Eye’ will put Casey and her team in the middle of the cutthroat politics of a local school’s parent coalition.
The first film follows Casey (McNamara), a law student, and her friends, PJ and Sarah, working together to prove the innocence of the former’s brother, Marcus, in a murder case. The victim is a girl named Devina Adams, and while all evidence points toward her sibling, Casey knows better and starts investigating. Even Devina’s boyfriend, Eli, joins her in her endeavor to find the killer.
As the story proceeds, it is revealed that Devina had been in an affair with a much older, rich man named Kurt Teller, who is already married. As Casey and her friends analyze the case from as many angles as possible, we find out that it was Kurt’s wife, Rachel, who killed Devina, not out of jealousy but out of the fear of losing all the “precious” things she had earned as the wife of a wealthy man. The film ends with Liam, a hacker friend of PJ who helped solve the case, mentioning another one to Casey, setting the stage for the upcoming sequel.
Considering how the first film ends, besides the actors mentioned above, we can expect Alexander Nunez as Liam, Markian Tarasiuk as Eli, and Sam Ashe Arnold as Marcus in the sequel.
Ottawa also served as the primary filming location for ‘True Justice: Family Ties.’ Other Hallmark projects such as ‘Paging Mr. Darcy’ and ‘Never Too Late to Celebrate’ were also shot in the region.
