Meanwhile, Rumi’s decision to stand up for herself brings about a PR and legal storm for Kuwata and his company that promises his overarching demise.
Therefore, for the time being, it seems like the future of team Viral Hit is strapped on a rollercoaster that can only go up. Unfortunately, since there hasn’t been any official announcement yet about a renewal, the possibility of a season 2 still remains up in the air. Yet, if it gets greenlit soon enough, season 2 of ‘Viral Hit’ could come out as soon as 2028.
Viral Hit Season 2 Might Find New and Stronger Opponents for Shimura
The finale of ‘Viral Hit’ season 1 is all about Shimura and his friends’ refusal to hand over their channel to a bully in a businessman’s attire. Thus, it’s more than fair to assume that the trio has no intention of putting the brakes on the brand they built from the ground up. In the wake of Kuwata’s defeat, a few things can be expected to happen. First, Shimura will win back his channel, undoing its suspension as per the agreement of the deal. Additionally, even if Kuwata decides to be a sore loser and refuses to hold up his end of the bargain, Rumi’s actions might just take the decision out of his hands anyway.
After getting signed by Candy Crown, an influencer agency, Rumi was almost forced to engage in sex work as a result of a shady, exploitative, and predatory contract. In turn, she decided to make her own move, record an incriminating conversation between her and her agent, and go public with it. This instantly causes massive backlash against the agency and also Kuwata. who owns the company by proxy and was specifically namedropped in the recording. This means, regardless of Kuwata ‘s intentions, season 2 is bound to find Shimura and his team back on their streaming channel. In order to continue growing, the teenager will likely seek out more opponents, opening up the door to a world of endless possibilities.
Viral Hit Season 2 Will Likely See the Return of Most Cast Members
‘Viral Hit’ substantially revolves around the streamer and his team behind the titular online content channel. Therefore, it’s most likely that these same characters, who were the heart and soul of season 1, will be returning to the series in the event of a potential season 2. This means fans can definitely expect the lead cast members to reprise their roles. This would include actors like Oji Suzuka, who plays Kato Shimura; Ai Mikami, who plays Aki Yashio; and Araki Sugou, who plays Kanekon.
Additionally, characters like Kaho Asamiya (Meru Nukumi) and Motoharu Yashio, aka Tou-Kei (Motoharu Yashio), who are unofficial members of the team, can also be expected to make a comeback. As for the more antagonist characters, their fates remain a bit more ambiguous. While there’s no obvious reason to bring back Kuwata, characters like Hamaken (Motoharu Yashio) and Shinjo Reo (Kentaro Maeda), who have a more personal connection to Shimura, might return. Other important familiar faces that are likely to reprise their roles include Mieko Harada (Shimura’s mother), Nana Asakawa (Rumi), and Noritaka Hamao (Ogi). On the other hand, with a new season, new faces can be expected to make an appearance.
Viral Hit Season 2 Might Delve Deeper Into Shimura and Asamiya’s Story
While season 1 wraps up Shimura’s storyline regarding his ownership of his streaming channel, the narrative also leaves a few other threads unsolved. For instance, while his donations from the fight will likely be enough to cover his mother’s medical bills, the actual outcome of her treatment remains yet to be seen. Likewise, there’s no concrete resolution to the romance between Shimura and Asamiya. The duo’s dynamic builds slowly over the course of the entire season. Yet, by the end, things seem bleak for the pair. Asamiya’s father has forbidden her from seeing the boy, and she initially seems willing to give in to his whims. However, the conclusion of her storyline suggests a drastically different reality.
In the end, Asamiya finally decides to confront her father for his controlling ways and solidifies her personal emancipation from tyrannical rule by punching him in the face. IN the aftermath of the confrontation, she runs away from home with the help of her longtime friend and confidant, Ogi. Therefore, her story is bound to unravel in exciting ways in a potential season 2. Yet, season 1 also hints at the possibility that Aki might have an unrequited crush on Shimura, which is made all the more complicated by her will-they-won’t-they dynamic with Kaneko. Thus, season 2 will offer a great opportunity for the narrative to untangle these romantic storylines.
