With Kaylin Metchie in the director’s chair, Hallmark’s ‘A Castle of Our Own’ is a romantic drama movie that centers on a successful architect, Marley, who decides to take a break when her work begins to take a toll on her and her relationships. To pacify her mind and mend her bond with her daughter, she embarks on a summer trip to the town of Cannon Cove, where she takes part in a sandcastle contest at the Cannon Cove Sandcastle Festival. There, she crosses paths with a charming contractor named Adam, who not only helps her reconnect with her daughter but also offers a fresh perspective on life. As they compete in the contest, Marley and Adam gradually fall for each other. The tale of romance unfolds primarily in the fictional town of Cannon Cove, which serves as a healing bridge between Marley and her daughter and a path towards love.
Where Was A Castle of Our Own Filmed?
The shooting for ‘A Castle of Our Own’ was filmed in its entirety in British Columbia, especially in Victoria. Principal photography for the Hallmark production reportedly began in February 2026 under the working title ‘Catching Sand’ and went on for a couple of weeks before seemingly wrapping up in March of the same year. Under one of Brennan Elliott’s post about the project, the director Kaylin Metchie commented, “Truly an honour and pleasure getting to work with you on this lovely film,” to which he responded, “feel exactly the same way Kay! It was wonderful to be directed by you and collaborate with you. You have such a bright directing future. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
Victoria, British Columbia
All the pivotal sequences for ‘A Castle of Our Own’ were reportedly taped in and around Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia. The filming unit took over various streets and neighborhoods across the city, situated on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, and transformed them into film sets. For instance, the cast and crew members were seemingly spotted lensing important scenes on Dallas Road and Saint Charles Street.
In addition, Cadboro-Gyro Park on Sinclair Road served as another prominent production location, doubling as the site of the Cannon Cove Sandcastle Festival. Its sandy beach is where the beach and sandcastle-making scenes involving Marley and Adam were shot. From what we can tell, the area around the University of Victoria, located at 3800 Finnerty Road, also hosted the production of the Hallmark romantic movie.

Erica Cerra and Brennan Elliott lead the cast of ‘A Castle of Our Own’ and help bring the romantic narrative to life through their chemistry-filled performances. The latter has not only served as an executive producer for several installments of the ‘Crossword Mysteries’ film series and ‘All of My Heart’ film series, but has also showcased his musical talent on ‘Christmas in Vienna,’ ‘A Christmas Melody,’ and ‘Love You Like Christmas.’ Erica worked on several commercials and took a break to reassess her goals. Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, he is widely recognized for his portrayals of Ian in ‘Curse of Chucky,’ Robert Fredericks in ‘Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,’ Michael in ‘The Perfect Pairing,’ Warren Saget in ‘Cedar Cove,’ and Graham in ‘UnREAL.’ His other film credits include ‘Heart of Dance,’ ‘Murder on the 13th Floor,’ ‘All of My Heart,’ ‘Flower Shop Mystery: Dearly Depotted,’ and ‘His & Hers.’ Other talented actors who feature in the romantic film in supporting roles include Lindsay Gibson as Beth, Sarah Sheehan as Lily, and Sophie Thom as Paige.
