Helmed by Stacey N. Harding, Hallmark’s ‘A Season of Promises’ is a holiday romantic movie that follows two sisters — Heidi and Sophie — who have not been seeing eye to eye since their mother’s tragic passing a few years ago. While Heidi is determined to land a job for the local professional hockey team, Sophie is supporting her dream of becoming a successful stand-up comedian by working as a waitress. Despite all the differences, the estranged sisters have one thing in common — genuine love and care for their father, Ed.
Heidi and Sophie’s paths collide after an unfortunate fainting episode that leads to Ed’s admission to the hospital. As they stay by his side while he recovers, they decide to set aside their differences and encourage their father to get back into the dating scene, trying to fulfill their late mother’s dying wish. Along the way, the two sisters bond and reconnect as they collectively hope that Ed finds someone new before Christmas arrives. Set in a small, quaint town, the story of a family reunion, grief, and new connections is enhanced by the festive setting and lit-up snowy streets.
