Created by Lee Sung Jin, Netflix’s ‘Beef’ is a psychological comedy-drama anthology series that revolves around conflicts among characters and their severe consequences. In the second season, the narrative follows two couples from different generations who become entangled. Newly engaged Ashley Miller (Cailey Spaeny) and Austin Davis (Charles Melton) are lower-level employees at a luxurious country club, while Joshua Martín (Oscar Isaac) is their general manager.
When Ashley and Austin witness a messy altercation between their boss, Joshua, and his wife, Lindsay Crane-Martín (Carey Mulligan), the two pairs find themselves caught in a game of manipulation that affects their personal and professional lives. Head-to-head against each other, the couples fight for the approval of the country club’s billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park. Interestingly, she is busy dealing with problems in her own personal life involving her second husband, Dr. Kim. The game of chess between the two couples unfolds primarily at the country club and in their places of residence, which serve as additional characters in the narrative.
Beef Season 2 Filming Locations
‘Beef’ season 2 was primarily filmed in California, particularly in Los Angeles and Ventura County. A significant portion was also shot in Seoul, South Korea. Principal photography for the sophomore round of the anthology series got underway in January 2025 and went on for about five months before concluding in June of the same year. Miracle Pelayo, who features in the fourth episode as Penny, took to social media and recounted her experience on the set. She expressed, “I am so beyond excited that I got to be apart of such an incredible cast who is SO talented and funny!!! To work with such talented artists and to learning from them has helped me grow so much. We really clicked in such a short time and my heart is so grateful. Being apart of an amazing cast and crew was beyond incredible!!! They were absolutely phenomenal!”
Los Angeles, California
Many pivotal sequences for ‘Beef’ season 2 were lensed across the home of Hollywood — Los Angeles. To be specific, Radford Studio Center at 4024 Radford Avenue in the Studio City neighborhood of LA served as the primary production location. Also known as CBS Studio Center, the film studio is considered one of the most celebrated and successful filming destinations in the city. Spread across 55 acres, it is home to 22 sound stages and three backlot areas, including New York Street, Residential Street, and Central Park. Moreover, the filming venue offers ample office space, green rooms, dressing rooms, multi-purpose rooms, hair and make-up rooms, and more, making it an ideal shooting site for all kinds of projects.
Ventura County, California
To paint the visual canvas of the second iteration of the Lee Sung Jin creation, the filming unit set up camp in Ventura County, located north of Los Angeles. In February 2025, the streets of Oxnard were turned into film sets for shooting purposes. The following month, the cast and crew members were spotted taping key portions in downtown Ojai, specifically in front of The Arcade Plaza at 256 East Ojai Avenue. Furthermore, Libbey Park, at 210 South Signal Street, reportedly features in several scenes of ‘Beef’ season 2. The Spanish Hills Club at 999 Crestview Avenue in Camarillo doubled as the elitist country club where Ashley, Austin, and Joshua work under Chairwoman Park.
Seoul, South Korea
Additional portions for ‘Beef’ season 2 were also shot in the capital of South Korea — Seoul. The production team set up camp in and around the Amorepacific World Headquarters at 100 Hangang-daero in Seoul’s Yongsan District in the last phase of the shooting process in June 2025. Director and creator Lee Sung Jin described shooting scenes with Song Kang-ho and Yun Yeo-jeong as a career-high moment for him. He told The Chosun Daily, “Director Bong Joon-ho visited the set and poked my side, asking, ‘Are you really going to shoot it like this?’ That moment will stay with me for a long time.”
