Helmed by Alpha Nicky, Lifetime’s ‘Ex Door Neighbor’ is a thriller drama movie that follows a pastry chef named Imani and an attorney named Deon Ashwood. Ultimately, they manage to book a place at the Luxe Center Condos, which is considered one of the hardest places to get. Things get complicated when Deon’s ex-partner, Tamera, moves in next door. Not only does she create tension between Imani and Deon with her mere presence, but Tamera also plots to break their relationship apart. Where Was Ex Door Neighbor Filmed?
The shooting for ‘Ex Door Neighbor’ took place in its entirety in Ontario, particularly in and around Hamilton. As per reports, principal photography for the thriller film got underway on March 11, 2024, and wrapped up after more than two weeks by the end of the same month. Upon the premiere of the movie, the director, Alpha Nicky, gave a shoutout to the entire cast and crew members on her social media. She wrote, “I had the great pleasure of working with a lot of talented people to create this film.”
Hamilton, Ontario
Situated on the western end of the Niagara Peninsula, Hamilton served as the primary production location for ‘Ex Door Neighbor.’ Whether it is the bustling streets of the city or the tall buildings, the makers made the most of the city’s locales to bring the suspenseful narrative to life. The establishing shots of the city feature several landmarks and skyscrapers in the backdrop. Thus, it is likely that you notice Hamilton City Hall, Dundurn Castle, 100 King Street West, The Olympia Condos, the BDC Building, and more. Chantel Riley, Kwaku Adu-Poku, and Getenesh Berhe collaborate to bring the enthralling narrative of ‘Ex Door Neighbor’ to life through their impressive performances. Besides being a talented actor, Chantel has also served as a producer/executive producer for quite a few short films, including ‘The Only Fan,’ ‘Sugar Dumplin,’ ‘Echoes of Care: A Mouth Without Words,’ and ‘A Letter from the Fathers II,’ and a 2023 film ‘Colorblind.’ Although Kwaku and Getenesh are less experienced than Chantel, they play their part in embodying their respective characters.

Chantel Riley steps into the role of Imani, the pastry chef, in the thriller movie. Widely known for her roles in ‘Race’ as Quincella, ‘Colorblind’ as Magdalene, ‘A Whimsy Christmas Carol’ as Vanessa Reed, ‘Beyond Black Beauty’ as Ester, ‘Ripple’ as Dr. Anderson, ‘How to Die Alone’ as Julie. She also lends her voice to Lucy Santana in ‘Daniel Spellbound’ and the character of Layla Hassan in a couple of ‘Assassin’s Creed’ games.
Kwaku Adu-Poku as Deon Ashwood
In ‘Ex Door Neighbor,’ Kwaku Adu-Poku portrays Deon Ashwood, an attorney and Imani’s fiancé. You might recognize him from ‘The Handmaid’s Tale,’ where he plays the role of Ralph. He also lends his voice to the character of Caleb in ‘Total Drama Island: Reboot.’ His other movie and TV credits include ‘Fake Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,’ ‘Death and the King’s Horseman,’ ‘Ruby and the Well,’ and ‘SkyMed.’
Getenesh Berhe as Tamera
Getenesh Berhe dons the garb of Tamera, Deon’s ex-partner, who threatens to destroy Imani and Deon’s relationship in the film. You might find her face familiar because the talented actor portrays Abrihet in ‘Cinema of Sleep,’ Tessa in ‘SurrealEstate,’ and Ruth in ‘Keep Breathing.’ She also features in ‘Prey for the Bride,’ ‘Song & Story: Amazing Grace,’ ‘Nine Films About Technology,’ ‘The Republic of Sarah,’ ‘Brilliant Minds,’ and ‘Saint-Pierre.’
In ‘Ex Door Neighbor,’ Deneisha Henry portrays Nicolette, while Milton Barnes features as Teddy. Furthermore, other talented actors play supporting yet critical roles, including Anthony Jhade as Paul, Monique Jasmine Paul as Jada, Marianne Laver as Madeline, Jayson Alexander as Calvin Shaw, Chris Handfield as Arthur, Sheronna Osbourne as Friend #1, and Simon Wong as Doctor.
