From the mind of George Kay, HBO’s ‘War’ is a British anthology legal drama series that revolves around the professional tensions between London law firms. The first season centers on the publicized divorce of a successful tech entrepreneur, Morgan Henderson, and an international actor, Carla Duval, as they hire two rival London law firms to represent them — Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne. In the middle of what is deemed the case of the century, an up-and-coming lawyer named Jonathan “Johnny” Warren finds himself pulled into the scandalous divorce as the two law firms battle for supremacy. Starring Dominic West and Sienna Miller, the enthralling show is set in a world of ambition, betrayal, and a winning mindset, reflected by the bustling streets and skyscrapers of London.
War Filming Locations
Production on ‘War’ is conducted primarily in England, especially in and around London. According to reports, principal photography for the debut season of the anthology series got underway in September 2025 and continued for about five months before wrapping up in February 2026. One of the co-directors, Jennifer Sheridan, took to social media to express her gratitude for being part of the project. She stated, “I had the absolute pleasure of directing the final episodes of this incredible show – and what a privilege it was! A cast and crew so brilliant that I genuinely had to pinch myself every day that I got to work alongside them. @olirusselldop making everything look epic, angbatten keeping us all on track. The hugely talented @benjyt leading the directing team alongside the wonderful @chinamooyoung.”
London, England
Lying on the River Thames, London served as the primary production location for HBO’s ‘War.’ The filming unit made the most of the vast and versatile terrains of the capital of England and the United Kingdom. They reportedly took over the OMA X Film Studios at 6 Solar Way in the town of Enfield, situated in north London. Spread across 213,000 square feet, the film studio, established in 2020, is home to six soundproofed sound stages, a multi-purpose support space, production offices, parking bays, and ample yard space. From what we can tell, the cast and crew members taped most of the indoor scenes involving the law firm offices of Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne, the meeting rooms, and the courtroom, in the film studio.
In order to tape pivotal exterior scenes, the production team set up camp on several streets and neighborhoods across London. For instance, during the shooting process, they were spotted taping key portions around Smith Square Hall, a Grade I-listed building and concert venue on Smith Square in the Westminster area. Situated on the south bank of the River Thames, the South Bank area also features in multiple outdoor scenes, with the Tower Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, and other buildings in the backdrop. Furthermore, it is likely that numerous scenes were also recorded in London’s major business district, Canary Wharf.
