Under the direction of Michael Robison, Hallmark’s ‘Holiday Unplugged’ follows an art teacher and widowed mother named Sally, who has been raising her children, Keegan and Boo, while keeping her late husband, Jake, in her heart and memories. As she decides to dip her toes back into the dating pool, Sally connects with her former colleague and her kids’ kindergarten teacher, Damon, on a dating app. Using Jake’s web platform, the single mother has stored family videos of him safely on the site. However, when an unexpected server migration deletes all those videos, she embarks on a search to find the original tapes.
To save her kids from the heartbreaking news, she convinces them and other family members to celebrate a no-screens Christmas while she tries to recover the videos. During her quest, she runs into Damon, who agrees to help her find the precious videos. As the two spend time together, they get to know each other and fall in love. Meanwhile, Keegan and Boo embrace the quality time with their grandparents in the absence of technology. Despite her best efforts, Sally can’t seem to find the original tapes. Amidst all this, she and her family realize the importance of making new memories while keeping the old ones alive in their hearts. The romantic drama movie touches on certain important themes, including family and new bonds, highlighting them through festive settings and lit-up visuals.
