Inspired by true events surrounding an undercover operation in the early 1990s, Netflix’s ‘Legends’ is a crime thriller drama series created by Neil Forsyth. After noticing a lot of illegal drug smuggling going on under the nose of the Customs and Excise department, Her Majesty picks out a few ordinary individuals working as Customs agents for a mission that is far from ordinary. They must go undercover and infiltrate some of the most dangerous drug gangs in the UK, risking their lives.
Before going on the top-secret operation, they undergo a basic training regimen to prepare them for their mission. As they work on building new identities for themselves in the criminal underworld, the Customs agents try to learn more about the drug smuggling business and put an end to it. The tale of espionage and suspense unfolds across the United Kingdom in the 1990s, with visuals that take audience back in time.
Legends Filming Locations
Production on ‘Legends’ is conducted in England and Morocco, especially in London, Liverpool, Hampshire, Surrey, and Marrakesh. From what we can tell, principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the Netflix show got underway in late March 2025 or early April 2025 and continued for about 17 weeks before wrapping up in July of the same year. Tuncay Gunes, who portrays Denis, took to social media and expressed his gratitude for being a part of the series. “It was an honor for me to meet and work with sincere and talented people like you. Spending time with you and being part of the same project, sharing that set together, was wonderful,” he stated.
London, England
A significant chunk of ‘Legends’ was lensed in the capital of England and the United Kingdom — London. To be specific, in the month of May 2025, the cast and crew members were spotted taping several key portions on Fortis Green Road in the Muswell Hill district, which underwent a significant makeover to depict the 1990s. Multiple important scenes were also shot in and around Dagenham, a town situated in East London. Apart from the Netflix production, the vibrant metropolis has hosted the production of many notable movies and TV shows over the years, including ‘Crime 101,’ ‘Wake Up Dead Man,’ ‘A Clockwork Orange,’ ‘Murder on the Orient Express,’ ‘Only Murders in the Building,’ and ‘Death in Paradise.’
Other Locations in England
For shooting purposes, the filming unit of ‘Legends’ also traveled to various other spots across England. For instance, the town of Farnborough in the Rushmoor district of Hampshire reportedly served as a key production site. Additional portions were also recorded in the ceremonial county of Surrey, specifically in the town of Camberley. In the port city of Liverpool, the cast and crew members set up camp in and around the Adelphi Hotel, a Grade II-listed property located on Lime Street at Ranelagh Place.
Marrakesh, Morocco
Numerous pivotal sequences for the crime drama series were also taped in and around Marrakesh, the capital of Morocco’s Marrakesh-Safi region. In the establishing shots, you are likely to notice many of the city’s landmarks and places of interest, such as Bab Agnaou, the Kutubiyya Mosque (Koutoubia Mosque), El Badi Palace, the Menara Gardens, and the Atlas Mountains. Other film and TV projects shot in Marrakesh are ‘The Man Who Knew Too Much,’ ‘Killer Elite,’ ‘Our Kind of Traitor,’ ‘The Nile Hilton Incident,’ ‘The Night Manager,’ and ‘Jack Ryan.’
