A modern adaptation of William Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing,’ Hallmark’s ‘Much About Love’ is a romantic comedy movie that centers on a renowned and successful TV director, Bea Bishop, who travels to her hometown to take part in a Shakespeare-themed festival. Apart from reuniting with her theater roots, Bea also collides with a former love interest named Benny Gersten, with whom she performed in Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ years earlier. As the two get ready to participate in the festival, they find themselves at odds with each other but also falling head over heels in love. Helmed by Shamim Sarif, the tale of romance unfolds mostly on the theater stage, where the final performance serves as a medium for their inevitable love.
Where Was Much About Love Filmed?
‘Much About Love’ was filmed in its entirety in Ontario, specifically in London. Principal photography for the Hallmark production reportedly commenced in late April 2026 under the working title ‘Nothing But Love’ and wrapped after a couple of weeks around mid-May of the same year. With the movie’s premiere approaching, Gabriel Burrafato took to social media and shared a few words about the shoot. He stated, “Had such a great time working on this one with an incredible cast and crew. Grateful to be part of a film filled with heart, humor, and a little bit of magic.”
London, Ontario
In order to fill the visual canvas of ‘Much About Love,’ the production team set up camp across the city of London, situated in southwestern Ontario. To depict scenes set in the main Shakespeare Festival Offices, they took over the rooms of the Elsie Perrin Williams Estate at 101 Windermere Road. They also redressed the Marienbad Restaurant and Chaucer’s Pub at 122 Carling Street and transformed it into the fictional Ye Olde King’s Tavern for the Hallmark production.
Several pivotal sequences were also lensed in and around the Grosvenor Lodge at 1017 Western Road, which doubled as the Costume Shops. During the shooting process, the cast and crew members were also spotted taping key portions set in the Farmer’s Market in the Covent Garden Market at 130 King Street. In addition, Gibbons Park at 2A Grosvenor Street stood in for the festival grounds in ‘Much About Love.’ The scenes involving the Shakespeare Festival were reportedly shot in Storybook Gardens at 1958 Storybook Lane, situated within Springbank Park.

Ashley Williams and Niall Matter lead the cast of ‘Much About Love’ and helped bring the romantic tale to life through their chemistry-filled performances. Being a founding member of Hallmark’s women’s directing initiative called ‘Make Her Mark,’ Ashley has served as a director for multiple projects, including ‘Circle of Deception,’ ‘A Nashville Country Christmas,’ and a couple of episodes of ‘The Rookie.’ Meanwhile, Niall has showcased his musical talent on projects like ‘Country at Heart’ and ‘A Christmas Together with You.’

Ashley Williams dons the garb of Bea Bishop, the TV director who returns to her theater roots, in ‘Much About Love.’ After her breakthrough performance in ‘As the World Turns’ as Dani Andropoulos, she landed roles in many bigger projects, including ‘Good Morning, Miami’ where she portrays Dylan Messinger, ‘How I Met Your Mother’ where she features as Victoria, and ‘The Jim Gaffigan Show’ where she portrays Jeannie Gaffigan. She also features in many movies, such as ‘Something Borrowed,’ ‘To Barcelona, with Love,’ ‘Sister Wife Murder,’ and ‘October Kiss.’
Niall Matter as Benny Gersten
In the Hallmark production, Niall Matter steps into the role of Benny Gersten, Bea’s old flame. The ‘Providence Falls’ fame actor is widely recognized for his portrayals of Evan Cross in ‘Primeval: New World,’ Zane Donovan in ‘Eureka,’ Mothman in ‘Watchmen,’ and Sapir in ‘The Predator.’ His other film and TV credits include ‘Mistresses,’ ‘Ally Was Screaming,’ ‘Falling for Christmas,’ ‘When Calls the Heart,’ ‘90210,’ ‘Melrose Place,’ ‘Remedy,’ and ‘Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.’
Besides the two leads, the romantic film also stars a bunch of other talented actors in supporting roles, including Lindura as Hannah Michaels, Johnathan Sousa as Clay Quinaz, Jennifer Dale as Toni Bishop, Moni Ogunsuyi as Maggie Phillips, Cody Ray Thompson as Don Krohn, Paul Braunstein as Doug Berrie, Gabriel Burrafato as Juan, and Madeline Elliott Kennedy as Joy Tidings.
