With the showrunner James Breen at the creative helm, Fox’s ‘Nation’s Dumbest’ is an adaptation of the hit eponymous Norwegian show. The reality celebrity game show follows several celebrities who get another chance to relive their school days by participating in various school-themed challenges. Flipping the traditional competition format, staying until the end is the last thing that the contestants want, as it earns them the title of The Nation’s Dumbest.
In order to prove their knowledge, the contestants compete in numerous physical challenges, brain-teasing tasks, and questions that test their classroom knowledge. Each week, the smartest celebrity graduates, while others risk being a part of the final exam that determines who will be the last contestant standing. The comedy series is hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall, who accompanies the celebrities as they go through the highs and lows of the competition, which involves pop quizzes, report cards, and parent-teacher conferences in a variety of studio settings.
Nation’s Dumbest Filming Locations
‘Nation’s Dumbest’ is filmed in Ontario, especially in the Greater Toronto Area. From what we can tell, principal photography for the debut season of the reality series began in April 2026 and went on for a few weeks before wrapping up in May of the same year. One of the contestants, JoJo Siwa, took to social media, sharing her experience of being on the set. She stated, “I’ve been in Canada filming this show for the last few weeks and it’s been an absolute BLAST. It begins airing on @foxtv July 15th, Which feels SOOO soon I’m so very excited for you to see how it all goes down! Excited to share more memories and behind-the-scenes videos that I have with my fellow classmates, but I have to keep a bit under wraps for now!”
Greater Toronto Area, Ontario
The funny celebrity series, ‘Nation’s Dumbest,’ was lensed in the Greater Toronto Area, which comprises the city of Toronto and various regional municipalities, including Peel, York, Halton, and Durham. The sound stages of a film studio in the metropolitan area were used to bring the numerous challenges and games to life, as crew members built various sets for the show. Andrew Yang, a political commentator and successful businessman, was one of the participants in the show’s debut season.
On his personal blog, he couldn’t share much about his experience with the project. He stated, “You might have to tune in to find out, as I’m kind of prohibited from sharing TOO much. But most of my reasoning was borne out; I made some new friends and definitely had a very distinct experience I won’t soon forget. It could be that running for President and being on a reality TV show have more in common than you might think.”
