Adapted from the eponymous 1972 movie, Netflix’s ‘My Dearest Señorita’ is a Spanish romantic drama film directed by Fernando González Molina. Originally titled ‘Mi Querida Señorita,’ the narrative revolves around an only child named Adela, who is raised in a conservative household by her overprotective mother in Pamplona. As a grown-up, she balances her time between her teaching responsibilities at the catechism classes and the family’s antique shop.
Adela is unaware of her intersexuality until a series of events leads her on a journey of self-discovery. Her interactions and friendships with a newly arrived priest and a woman named Isabel, and the return of her childhood friend, challenge everything she knows about herself. She finds herself traveling to Madrid, where she embraces her gender identity through love and support from others. Set in 1999, the coming-of-age tale unfolds in Pamplona and Madrid, each city reflecting different stages of Adela’s life.
My Dearest Señorita Filming Locations
‘My Dearest Señorita’ was filmed in Spain, primarily in Pamplona and Madrid. As per reports, principal photography for the Spanish drama got underway in early February 2025, but it was halted on the tenth day due to a health scare involving the director, Fernando González Molina. After recovering, the shooting resumed and continued for nearly two months before wrapping up in the first week of April of the same year.
After the conclusion of the production, Molina took to social media and expressed his gratitude for the cast and crew members. He stated, “I want to thank the cast and crew of the movie that took care of me and helped me finish it. That for moments I thought it couldn’t be. To @transisteria @ahcatala @soyambrossi endless thanks for the love and respect you have shown me even on the most difficult days. And to @netflixes thank you for all the support.”

A majority of ‘My Dearest Señorita’ was reportedly lensed across Pamplona, the capital city of Navarre, situated on the flood plain of the Arga River. The cast and crew members were spotted taping several important scenes at a bar on Calle Jarauta. For shooting purposes, they also took over Calle San Nicolás. The filming unit transformed Plaza San Juan de la Cadena into a film set for a New Year’s Eve celebration scene. In Plaza de la Cruz, they turned a local establishment into the Casablanca video store.
The production team also set up camp at a real estate agency on Plaza de La Libertad and turned it into a fictional antique shop for the film. Other locations where the drama movie was filmed include the area around Calle Amaya. In the backdrop of a few exterior shots, you are likely to spot numerous popular landmarks, such as the Pamplona City Hall, Pamplona Cathedral, San Lorenzo Church, San Nicolás Church, and San Ignacio Church.
