From the mind of Tuğba Doğan, Netflix’s ‘Not a Stranger,’ originally titled ‘Seni Taniyorum,’ is a Turkish psychological drama series that centers on a talented painter named Funda, who takes a break from her art career after the birth of her child. After much searching, she and her husband, Ilker, finally come across an ideal candidate in a young woman named Nazli for the position of their child’s nanny and caretaker.
As Funda receives much-needed help from the new arrival, she refocuses on her art, unaware that her life is going to get upended. With each passing day, the new mother realizes that Nazli might be carrying some dark secrets of her own. In the show, the psychological and deadly game of loyalty and desire unravels in a wide range of settings, including Funda’s home, where Nazli pretends to be a perfect nanny to her newborn.
Not a Stranger Filming Locations
Production on ‘Not a Stranger’ takes place entirely in Turkey, particularly in and around Istanbul. From what we can tell, principal photography for the debut season of the Turkish series seemingly took place in the fall of 2025, likely around the month of September. Thanks to the vast and versatile terrains of Turkey, it makes for an ideal production location for all kinds of projects, including the Tuğba Doğan creation.

‘Not a Stranger’ was filmed extensively in the bustling metropolis of Istanbul in Turkey. Funda frequently visits a wellness center to swim and relax her senses as she navigates the pressures of juggling her career and new motherhood. The sequences set in the fitness club were taped at O’Wellness Dragos and O’Wellness Sky, operated by O’Wellness, which offers premium fitness and wellness facilities. O’Wellness Dragos is located at Tugay Yolu Avenue No. 10, CB C Block in the Cevizli neighborhood of Maltepe on the Asian side of Istanbul.
Meanwhile, O’Wellness Sky stands at Skyland Istanbul, a skyscraper complex on Azerbaijan Avenue in the Huzur neighborhood of Sarıyer on the European side of the city. The scenes that unfold in the house where Funda resides with her husband and their newborn were likely shot in a residential property. The production team of ‘Not a Stranger’ carefully curated filming locations to depict an increasingly confined and unsettling atmosphere as Funda grapples with intense paranoia after her life is upended by the arrival of the nanny.
