Where Was Outer Banks Season 5 Filmed?

From the minds of Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, Netflix’s ‘Outer Banks’ is a mystery teen drama series that revolves around two groups of teenagers seeking treasure in the titular community on a North Carolina island. Season 5 picks up right after the events of the finale of the previous season, following the tragic death of JJ in Morocco. As the Pogues deal with the loss and grief of the tragedy, they continue encountering threats while stranded from home, with the Kooks trying their best to get rid of the Pogues’ home.

On top of that, Chandler Groff, Dalia, and the Corsairs also pose a threat to the teenagers. So, in order to stay safe and give their rivals a fight to avenge the heart of their crew, John B, Kiara, Cleo, Pope, and Sarah team up with Rafe and make the most of their instincts. Featuring a talented ensemble cast comprising Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Charles Esten, and Drew Starkey, the show is primarily set in a fictional North Carolina community, where the Pogues find themselves in a series of deadly perils.

Outer Banks Season 5 Filming Locations

‘Outer Banks’ season 5 was filmed in South Carolina and Croatia, particularly in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and Dubrovnik. According to reports, principal photography for the fifth and final iteration of the mystery drama series commenced in June 2025 and continued for about six months before wrapping up on December 19 of the same year. It was reported that during the shooting process, in October 2025, the co-creator Jonas Pate allegedly screamed at a female production assistant in Croatia, with Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline intervening.

One of the members of the filming unit, Brandon, took to social media and shared a heartfelt message about being a part of the project. He stated, “That’s a wrap on Outer Banks Season 5. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such talented actors, actresses, and crew members. While it’s bittersweet to see it come to an end, I’m thankful for the experience and everything I learned along the way.”

Charleston, South Carolina

Following the pattern of the previous seasons, a significant chunk of ‘Outer Banks’ season 5 was lensed in the city of Charleston. The small-town feel of the city is ideal for depicting the fictional titular community, making it the preferred primary production location for the show. The cast and crew took over numerous familiar streets, neighborhoods, and properties in the Holy City to tape key portions for the fifth season.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

For shooting purposes, the production team of ‘Outer Banks’ season 5 also set up camp in and around the resort city of Myrtle Beach, situated northeast of Charleston. As per reports, several important stunt scenes were lensed at the historic Socastee Swing Bridge on Dick Pond Road, over the Intracoastal Waterway. In late July 2025, the filming unit also closed some nearby areas, including the nearby River City Cafe. However, taping in Myrtle Beach wasn’t as smooth as they had to reschedule multiple times due to unfavorable weather conditions. Moreover, the Socastee census-designated place seemingly served as yet another filming site for the fifth round.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

The cast and crew members of ‘Outer Banks’ season 5 also traveled to the city of Dubrovnik in southern Croatia to record numerous pivotal sequences. The Old Town, located at the heart of the city, hosted the filming of several important scenes for the final season. It also features multiple popular areas and spots of Dubrovnik, including Stradun, the Old Port of Dubrovnik, the Walls of Dubrovnik, the Jesuit Staircase at Ul. Josipa Jurja Strossmayera 2, Luža Square, Danče Beach, the Franciscan Church and Monastery at Poljana Paska Miličevića 4, and Lapad Marina in Gruž Harbor.

Furthermore, the area around Restaurant Sesame at Dante Alighieri 2 seemingly makes an appearance in quite a few outdoor scenes. The filming unit of the drama series was also spotted recording key portions in and around the 16th-century palace — Sponza Palace at Stradun 2. They also shot minor portions outside the city of Dubrovnik, on the island of Lokrum island and the village of Cavtat. You are also likely to spot Srđ Mountain in the backdrop of numerous exterior portions.
