With Steven A. Adelson at the helm, Lifetime’s ‘Sole Survivor of Flight 119’ is a biographical drama movie adapted from Tammy L. Kling’s memoir titled ‘Exit Row.’ A part of the network’s ‘Ripped from the Headlines’ slate, it centers on a young mother named Lisa Foster who finds herself in the Mexican jungle after surviving the devastating plane crash. As the sole survivor of the tragedy, she must be self-sufficient and draw on her resilience and determination if she wants a chance to survive the dangerous wilderness and reunite with her young daughter back home.
An airline executive named Rebecca Till, who luckily missed boarding the crashed plane, Flight 119, is given the responsibility to help the family members of the passengers who have lost their lives in the crash. During her search for the potential survivors, Rebecca connects with Lisa’s loved ones, who provide her with the last message sent by Lisa just a few moments before the accident. It unexpectedly allows Rebecca to get closer to finding her and rescuing Lisa from the wilderness. The movie is mostly set in the Mexican jungles, where Lisa is trapped after the crash, and Rebecca’s airline office, providing contrasting visuals that make the narrative visually richer.
Where Was Sole Survivor of Flight 119 Filmed?
The shooting for ‘Sole Survivor of Flight 119’ was conducted in British Columbia, seemingly in and around Kelowna. From what we can tell, principal photography for the Lifetime production took place in the month of May 2026 over the course of a few weeks. After the conclusion of the shoot, Cayla Christy shared a few words about her experience of being on the set. She said, “Working on this one was so special and fun! I was featured in a bunch of scenes as a grief counsellor background actor , also did a 5 days as a background costumer and worked with so many friends, one of my very best friends and my amazing boyfriend got to be a background actor in the plane crash while I was costuming! Such a blast and so many great memories working on this production!”
Kelowna, British Columbia
The city of Kelowna likely served as the primary production location for ‘Sole Survivor of Flight 119.’ Given the presence of modern architecture and natural landscape in and around Kelowna, it was an ideal stand-in for the scenes set in the jungles as well as the city. In the establishing shots, you are likely to notice a few local landmarks and buildings, such as Knox Mountain Park, the William R. Bennett Bridge, the Okanagan Lake, and more.
In order to tape the scenes set inside Flight 119, the filming unit utilized the interior of an actual airplane. As for the jungle scenes, they possibly set up camp in the wooded areas located in and around Kelowna. The former is a Yale University graduate who entered the fashion industry in Paris, France, before slowly making a name for herself in the film industry. She has also served as an executive producer on ‘Beba’ and ‘An Oversimplification of Her Beauty.’ On the other hand, Sarah is a multi-talented individual with directing credits including ‘The Good Doctor,’ ‘Firefly Lane,’ ‘Fire Country,’ and ‘Sheriff Country.’

Joy Bryant steps into the role of Rebecca Till, the airline executive who is determined to rescue the survivors of the plane crash, in the Lifetime production. Many of you might recognize her from ‘Bobby’ as Patricia, ‘Antwone Fisher’ as Cheryl Smolley, and ‘Honey’ as Gina. She also stars in several TV shows, such as ‘For Life,’ ‘Trinkets,’ ‘Good Girls Revolt,’ ‘The Spiderwick Chronicles,’ What Would Diplo Do?,’ and ‘Parenthood.’

In ‘Sole Survivor of Flight 119,’ Sarah Wayne Callis dons the garb of Lisa Foster, the sole survivor of Flight 119 trapped in the Mexican jungles. She is widely known for her portrayals of Lori Grimes in ‘The Walking Dead,’ Katie Bowman in ‘Colony,’ and Dr. Sara Tancredi in ‘Prison Break.’ Sarah also has plenty of movie credits, such as ‘Into the Storm,’ ‘Pay the Ghost,’ ‘Lullaby for Pi,’ ‘The Other Side of the Door,’ and ‘The Celestine Prophecy.’
