Did Whitney Leavitt Leave MomTok Group?

Whitney Leavitt has long been a central figure in MomTok on Hulu’s ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.’ She even served as the group’s leader in season 1. However, tensions eventually led her to leave the group chat and fall out with several members, creating noticeable rifts within the circle. Midway through season 3, Whitney made an unexpected return, which resulted in mixed reactions and raised eyebrows about her true intentions. Some questioned whether she genuinely wanted to reconnect or simply rejoin the spotlight. Whitney addressed the concerns in her own way, explaining her reasons for coming back and hoping to rebuild trust within the group.

Whitney Leavitt Admitted to Coming Back to the Group for a Competitive Dance Show

After Taylor Frankie Paul became embroiled in the swinging scandal, Whitney Leavitt naturally stepped into a leadership role within the MomTok group. Much of season 1 highlighted the tension between the two, while Whitney maintained close friendships with members like Mayci Neeley and Jen Affleck. By the end of season 2, friction grew when Whitney continued her friendship with Demi Engemann even as others distanced themselves from her. She eventually pulled back from the group for personal reasons, left the group chat, and unfollowed several members on social media. Still, she was later voted back in and returned to the circle on her own terms.

In season 3, Whitney was notably absent at the start, prompting Layla Taylor to explain that a contract-related fallout had occurred. Whitney had allegedly requested Academy Awards tickets and a fictional role in a TV series, and when those demands were reportedly not met, she chose not to sign on for the new season. However, once it was announced that cast members would have the chance to compete on ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ Whitney made a mid-season return and expressed interest in rejoining. She insisted she had never officially left MomTok, only grown distant. Part of that distance, she said, came from moving farther away in Utah; the rest stemmed from feeling that being “voted back in” was condescending and didn’t convince her the others genuinely wanted her there. Addressing the contract rumors, she denied ever asking for Oscars tickets but admitted she did request the acting role.

While speaking with the group, Whitney didn’t shy away from admitting that her return to filming was motivated by her desire to join ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ which was a lifelong dream she felt no shame in pursuing. When asked about her dynamics with the others, she acknowledged feeling unwelcome in the group and emphasized that any relationship only works when both sides put in real effort. Several friends confided their mixed feelings about her return. Jen later admitted that Whitney’s coming back didn’t feel fair, while Jessi Ngatikaura expressed that many of them had invested time and emotion into the friendship, which made it difficult to watch Whitney step away so easily.

Whitney Leavitt is Not as Close to the MomTok Group as She Used to be

Taylor Paul invited everyone for a group discussion with the intention of confronting Whitney Leavitt and having an open, honest conversation. During the exchange, Whitney broke down, but the moment didn’t garner much sympathy from the others, who still felt hurt by her earlier distance. Eventually, Whitney made her stance clear, saying, “MomTok is a business. MomTok is not this sisterhood, friendship, rara, and I don’t care what they f—— say. At the end of the day, you don’t care about my feelings. You don’t care about me, you care about yourself. Okay, noted. Let me start doing that then.” While she ultimately remained part of the season, it remains uncertain whether she will return for the next one.

She has reconnected with parts of the group socially and remains officially a cast member, but there are several signs suggesting she may be preparing to step away. As she put it, “I’m filming because I was offered the opportunity to audition and I’m so excited for one of us to get it. I’m not coming back to the sisterhood. I’m gonna start my own MomTok and hopefully find a space that I feel welcome in.” Given this, it’s clear that while she hasn’t formally exited, her relationships within the cast are far from what they once were. The future of her involvement is uncertain, especially since she hasn’t been filming as much content with the group and is no longer as close to many of them.
