Zoe Saldana’s ‘Still Life’ Starts Filming in New York in October

Empire State will soon become Zoe Saldaña’s ground zero. The filming of the feature film ‘Still Life’ will take place in New York State starting this October. Alexander Dinelaris is the writer/director. Joining Saldaña in the cast are Matthew Goode and Marcia Gay Harden. The story is set in New York City and follows celebrated photographer Carrie Ann, who has lost her passion for art following the death of her beloved father. At a gallery opening, she meets Jeff, a successful advertising executive hiding a devastating medical secret and questioning the value of his carefully constructed life. Drawn together by grief, fear, and a shared sense of emptiness, the two begin an unexpected relationship that forces them to confront mortality, ambition, and the choices that define them. As their lives intertwine, they discover that healing and redemption can emerge from the darkest moments if they are willing to truly embrace life again.

Saldaña was last seen as Neytiri in James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash,’ which grossed over grossing $1.4 billion worldwide. Before that, she returned as CIA agent Joe McNamara in Season 2 of Paramount+’s ‘Lioness’ and Rita in Jacques Audiard’s BAFTA-winning movie ‘Emilia Pérez.’ Saldaña won the Oscar and BAFTA for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in the movie. She also voiced Olga Solís, the aunt of the protagonist, Elio, in the Disney+ animated adventure movie ‘Elio.’ We will next see her in Season 3 of ‘Lioness,’ which will arrive on August 2, 2026.

Matthew Goode is known for his TV performances as Henry Talbot in ITV’s ‘Downton Abbey,’ Finley “Finn” Polmar in CBS’s ‘The Good Wife,’ and most recently, DCI Carl Morck in Netflix’s ‘Dept. Q,’ As far as movies are concerned, we have seen him in ‘The Imitation Game,’ ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society,’ ‘The Colour Room,’ ‘The King’s Man,’ ‘Freud’s Last Session,’ and ‘Abigail.’ Goode’s upcoming projects include Simon West’s war drama ‘Fortitude,’ also starring Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman, and Josie Rourke’s movie ‘Custom of the Country,’ co-starring Sydney Sweeney, Leo Woodall, and Dominic West.

Academy Award-winning veteran actress Marcia Gay Harden has featured in popular movies like ‘Miller’s Crossing,’ ‘Pollock,’ ‘Mystic River,’ ‘The First Wives Club,’ and ‘Flubber.’ She played Dr. Leanne Rorish in ‘Code Black,’ FBI Agent Dana Lewis in ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,’ and Maggie Brener in ‘The Morning Show.’ Her latest role was Elizabeth Gable in Apple TV+’s ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles.’

Alexander Dinelaris will make his feature directorial debut with ‘Still Life.’ He co-wrote ‘Digger,’ starring Tom Cruise, which will be released on October 2, 2026, ‘Birdman,’ and Prime Video’s ‘The Mehta Boys.’
